Just a rough idea so far. A working title is "The Princesses of the Night, Moon, and Stars."
Ponies are herd animals, when threatened they group with the youngest in the center, and the oldest, weakest is pushed out of the herd. It’s instinctive an ingrained behavior trait to move those sick and different away. It’s also the cruelest trait, for those who suffered such expulsion are doomed to a harsh destiny.
Ponies are also diurnal being active during the day, so when a young Princess Luna ended up nocturnal instinctively the ponies shunned her. In her desperation to not be alone, she screamed into the void, and something heard her…
This was the birth of Nightmare Moon, the darkness answering Luna’s desperate plea to not be alone. At least in one universe, perhaps in another someone also else answered the call.
The story is a HiE. In this one due to cosmic chance a human soul responds to Luna's cry into the void. Nightmare Moon still going to manifest and take over Luna, resulting in the events of Nightmare Moon being banished.
However, when instead of Nightmare Moon returning during the Summer Sun it's Asteria the Princess of the Stars. He/She I'm not sure if Asteria was once a male or female in this story, however, they were a Brony/Pegasister and fan of G4. So she knows what's going to happen.
She also has Nightmare Moon and Princess Luna in her head as she seeks a way for all three to have their seperate bodies or at least free Princess Luna from NMM and herself.
Besides the inner struggle of having three minds in one body, Princess Celestia would be suspicious of this new Persona in Luna's body. Celestia wouldn't know if Asteria was truthful in saying she has no intentions of causing harm. The struggle of finding an answer to the Three Mind Problem. As well as dealing with the reality of Equestria and wondering how much she would alter, or preserve in the timeline.

Will this be a sequel of your Prince of Dreams or something new? Loved that story its one of my favs.

This is a new idea so a complete different universe. I'm splitting Luna’s duties. Luna has the Moon, Nightmare Moon has Dreams/Nightmares, and Asteria has the Stars.
Thought all three has the same abilities just different focuses and strengths. It still a very rough idea.
Once done I might return to the “Prince of Dreams” universe now that the writing bug got me again.
