Long (Ish) Chapters?

When I first started reading the long fanfictions all those years ago, I wondered why people made chapters that were 15 thousand words or more sometimes.

I've fallen trap to that! While writing I forgot about chapters in general and now chapter 26 is over 10,000 words.

God damn!

Also, what are your guys' outlooks on long chapters? Like them? Don't?

For some reason, I love long chapters. The longer the better for me. I think it's just the fact that things are happening in the story uninterrupted with no breaks to the immersion. The longest chapter I've ever read is an 87k word monster in Songs of the Spheres, which is longer than many stories on this site. An honorable mention is the 51k word chapter in Fallout Equestria. They were great.

(Split up my story into 50K word chunks so google docs won’t die 🤣. Figured out about the usual text limit a while ago the hard way.)

Sorry for taking so long to respond!

For the story, imagine something with a plotline sort of like "A Wrinkle In Time", as in fighting the forces of darkness and malice. It's like that, but with a lot more blood, friendship, dark themes, some hellishly powerful characters, and plenty of universe breaking Discord-Style.

Then there are subplots within it, which I've sorta divided into the three main sections of the story: Earth, Equus, and then Void (Void being the embodiment of malice I mentioned earlier.

And then within those they have their own little storylines, so yeah, I guess it is incredibly ambitious but I believe I can get it done!
