First post: "IMO #1". Background Pony, Anthropology, Caretakers, The Haunting in Ponyville, The Stars Will Aid in Their Escape, The Bank Job. · 3:34am Oct 16th, 2023

Okay, I've decided, from now on I'll be writing short, poorly worded, and partial reviews opinions on fics I've read, recently or a long time ago (yet remember vividly), here. I'm no writer and no critic but I feel like sharing some of my thoughts here. Just... yeah, don't expect much constructive criticism, just feelings. Please let me know if you discover this and the blog's content would be against the rules or something, I've reread them but I may have missed something. Reminder to self: Do not insert links to M-rated stories in the blog.

The numbers mean nothing much, just my scale of enjoyment of a story.

Oh girl, that fic shook me up. Read it back in 2016 and wanted to leave a long rant about my feelings from the ending in the comments but uhh I'm not that secure of sharing my thoughts to the public. Aanyway, the story was a big downer and I loved it and now Lyra is my top favorite pony. And the ending... it was pure suffering, but still something I had to read. At least Lyra's efforts weren't completely in vain and meant something, even if she couldn't save herself or be remembered for her actions. And the green text in the end was both so heartwarming and heartbreaking to see. Yeah. 5/5, gotta give it another read someday.

Anthropology by JasonTheHuman
The other of the two Lyra fics. Finished reading this story a week ago; while I really don't like the fanon of Lyra being obsessed with humans I've been intrigued by this fic for quite a while because of certain Reveals I've spoiled myself to and fanarts for it by some of my favorite artists. And it didn't disappoint, and while some parts of it were quite cheesy (Like how Lyra's adventures on Earth went way too smoothly) the willing suspension of disbelief for that was very achievable plus a bit cheesy, and feel-good, story was just what I needed to read at the time. 4/5 (I feel like I have to deduce a point for that WSoD) and a place in my top faves showcase.

Caretakers by JasonTheHuman
Short and fun black comedy fic with a good ending, sure felt different after Anthropology. 4/5.

The Haunting in Ponyville by JasonTheHuman
It's spook season and this story was extremely fun to read. The ending twist was foreshadowed well in advance so it wasn't a big surprise but uhh I lost my train of thought. Just another good LyraBon fic with a nice ghost story mixed in. 4/5.

Haven't finished this one yet but it already feels like a letdown, after a promising first chapter the continuation feels like just another generic darkfic. And while the only "canon" Cthulhu Mythos content I've read was HP himself this one's vibe is... too different. Still, there was a genuine effort to fuse them with the world of Equestria and I can admire it. Just not the story itself, sorry. 3/5 so far, will update the review when (if) I finish it.

The Bank Job by Keywii_Cookies55
This oneshot is one of the reasons I've even started this blog, even if I don't think any of the writers of linked stories are ever gonna read these words. Something about it resonated a lot with me, and while it's been a while since I read it and I don't remember much aside from the general story flow I still remember the feels. 4/5.
