If you ever get around to seeing Make Your Mark, I have a feeling you’ll be far from pleased with how Spike was used and portrayed in Chapter 6.

Just finished binge-watching “Make Your Mark”…and honestly, I don’t understand why some of you guys hate G5’s portrayal of Spike. I genuinely don’t.

He’s actually GREAT! I can see why people aren’t found of his new design, but he’s the same Spike I love from G4, and I am so happy he’s finally a Dragon Lord. He’s now a wise leader whom all the surviving dragons can look up to.

*sigh* My boy’s all grown up.

For one thing, it’s because Spike got the short end of the stick by being reduced to a mere spokesman. And another, there’s no explanation for how he and the other dragons were able to live so long under a hibernation that must’ve gone on for thousands of years, let alone how they’re able to lay eggs during that time considering Sparky’s unexplained birth.

Outside of this, Spike really didn’t do much of anything throughout his G5 appearances or proved how he’s a qualified leader to begin with. The only reason he seems to be included in G5 is for the mere sake of G4 Easter egg-baiting, and if he was replaced with another character entirely, there wouldn’t be any difference.

Dude, not everything needs to be explained in excruciating detail. These questions do not need answering, and if you really want to know, there’s always fan fiction to fill in the gaps.

Also, G4 proved that Spike is more than capable of leading anyone or guiding someone…so long as he wasn’t the source of a stupid conflict in later MLP: FIM episodes.

So, again, I strongly disagree with you.

All the same, I personally felt that Spike was utterly useless and unimportant in G5, which is why I believe it did him a terrible disservice. He and the other dragons had all the buildup needed to prove that it was worth having them be part of it all, and what do they do?

NOTHING!

Also, this may be because my memory is a little foggy on the matter, but I hardly recall any point in G4 where Spike is capable of being a good leader, which is why I was never open to him being Dragon Lord in the first place.
