Could use some assistance with developing a realm of spirits whose jobs are related to sleep!

Lounge-singing spirits who sing lullabies, spirits who use yarn to weave dreams into tapestries, lots of possibilities!

Creature names? Food? Entertainment? Anything could happen! Let's go! ^^

Dreamweavers; They take the threads that make up the seams of the universe, and weave them into a tapestry of visions and half-baked thoughts. Mortals call them dreams.

This cosmic energy being taken away into dreams would normally break down the foundations of our universe, hence why not everyone experiences these dreams--dreams that grant inspiration or forewarning. Only in specific, seemingly random intervals, do dreams happen.

Such tapestries are not easily forgotten, and thus embedd into the fragile psyche of those who experienced these dreams. So powerful and prophetic are these dreams that the mortals yearn for it--longing to dream again--and therefore the cosmic energy is fed back into the universe in a state of perpetuality.

How about the Counting Sheep? I could easily imagine a scene with two Counting Sheep at a bar, drinking cider, complaining about jumping over fences and being counted all night. Here's a crazy idea: What about a midnight blue, winged unicorn that travels the dream realm, defeating nightmares? No, I think that one's been done before; The Simpsons, maybe?

Oh, were you looking for original ideas? I got nuthin. :-P

Lol, I got a floof that deals with nightmares. The Mind Mane! 🤗

Lol, the story I have in mind with this worldbuilding is about a sheep trying to find his missing daughter with the help of a sleep spirit :3

Heh, that's pretty much the idea! :3

The threads drift in for the weavers to collect and knit with, and they resemble multi-colored brains.

I just got the idea that there could be some moth-like creatures that try to eat these threads, and if there's nothing to salvage from the yarns, the owner of that yarn brain gets insomnia, XD

I just saw that commercial where a sheep is counting humans that are jumping over a fence, and it reminded me to say this: Maybe the father knows a Counting Sheep, and asks it to look for his daughter in the dream realm.

I like the weaver idea.
