The Silver Standard (Spoilers/Summary) · 3:05pm April 30th

I have read lots of stories. Usually with combat, heavy world building, and deep lore. I had gotten a sudden interest in Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara one day in November, and found this story shortly after on a random whim and just decided to dedicate myself to it wholeheartedly. It has taken me a long time to fully absorb it's information. This story is all about change. Change is inevitable. People grow and change. The characters in this story certainly have. Silver grew to appreciate Ponyville, and Diamond's friendship with her evolved, and by the end, everyone was better off. It is very much a welcome change in pace when compared to what I have read previously. It isn't about saving the world, worldending prophecies or going to the edge of fate. It's about a kid learning to adjust and grow with her circumstances with the bigger stakes lingering in the background to where she has no real control over.

The drama and conflict here felt as real as any other story's world ending conflicts, which to someone Silver's age, are the end of her world. Berry Pinch was an excellent example of this, as well as Diamond's own drama with Silver Spoon. The CMC here felt like villains at the start, which makes sense from Silver's perspective - who spent her early years in the highrise of Manehattan amongst others who were cut-throat and ruthless. Silver had to adapt to be like that to survive there socially. It also makes me wonder about potential for stories taking place in Wisteria Academy, foals challenging the norm there, like Silver did. Silver destroying her rivals with Diamond there on that one trip she had was a delicious treat.

It's well in line with canon, usually I read stories that aren't involved with canon at all but this one made it work for me. Canon usually does not interest me, but this one fully did because it adds far more depth to these characters than the show ever did, but yet it all makes sense, perfectly! It's created like a masterpiece. I was never into the hate of Silver and Diamond, I loved them! The hate that gets sent their way is absolutely undeserved and everyone who has an open mind should read this story. For those who don't have an open mind, they are really missing out.

Spoiled Rich was great here, I would have liked to see more interaction between the Silver and Riches as families, the unique politics between the two. The ending was absolutely unexpected, but not unwelcome. It shows that an end is also a beginning. When one door closes, another opens. Tempus Pecunia. Time is money.

This story is really relatable to real life situations and struggles I personally face, changing times, shifting alliances with friends, and the neverending change of life as it chaotically evolves.

It took me from November 17th, 2023 - March 25th, 2024 to complete this story.

I agree with you, the story (from the parts you've shown me, anyhow) was great but I just wish it delved a bit more into things, like the school and Spoiled Rich's character.

Good choice. This is one of the best stories on the site.

It is, I've been aware of it for a long time, it took me quite a lot of time and effort to get through but it was worth it. It was more engaging than a lot of stories I have read on this site.
