Quiet lurker/music lover who "accidentally" also became a part-time weird conversationalist. Music Recommendations. I prefer CDs and records. Ironic.

    Tape Deck's Mixtape: Track 30

dang it's been a month since I started doing this (roughly).

    Tempus fugit.

Jack Johnson's a pretty good soft rock/acoustic pop/whatever musician, and he also did the excellent soundtrack to the 2006 animated film Curious George.

Flake from his 2001 album Brushfire Fairytales.

    Dwight Schrute (MXTP29)

If you don't remember these guys when they were the popular band, you simply are too young to be on Fimfiction.

Skedaddle before the mods find you.

    Imagine Dragons.
Their first album, Night Visons (2012), was pretty good.

Their second, Smoke and Mirrors (2015), is beyond excellent, with maybe only a couple weaker tracks.

    Tape Deck's Mixtape: Track 28

I'm not sure if I have an accurate idea of what "punk" is.

The closest thing I've listened to is these guys, and Wikipedia calls them "garage punk".

    But they're awesome.

Won't Be Long from the 2007 album The Black and White Album. That's the actual album name.

    Tape Deck's Mixtape: Track 27

We're back to a new band per day.

I really want to post a lesser-known song of theirs, but this one is so good that it traveled back in time and assassinated the Archduke of Austria.

Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand from their 2004 self-titled debut album.

Tape Deck's Mixtape: Track 7 · 12:54pm May 18th

Want some decent, pretty much standard alternative rock from 1996?

Here ya go.

King of New Orleans by Better than Ezra, from the album Friction, Baby.

Reminds me of my favorite Norm Macdonald joke:

"In music news, Number 1 on the college charts this summer was Better than Ezra. And at Number 2: Ezra."

Wait, really?
I've never heard that.
That's hilarious.:rainbowlaugh:
And thanks for stopping by.
(If you're interested in his as well, I'm basically piggybacking off of Vertigo22's Daily Dose of music.)

As a teenager in the 90s, I was legally required to watch SNL, back when it was still funny. Here's my other favorite quote from Norm's "Weekend Update":

At a press conference this week, FAA officials studying last year's crash of TWA flight 800 announced that they have pinpointed the cause: a frayed wire leading from the jet's fuel tank. According to the investigators, the wire became frayed when it was struck by a missile.

A little context: TWA flight 800 crashed into the ocean after it exploded midair. Eyewitnesses saw what looked like a missle hitting the plane, and radar imagery seemed to confirn it. However, the FAA blamed the frayed wire in the fuel tank.

Great again, and thanks for the context.:rainbowlaugh:

This was surprisingly good. Great choice!
