Second story for the 1k contest. This one's in the horror category, but it didn't start out that way. For some reason I thought there was a romance category at first. It wasn't supposed to be horror at all, it just kinda happened.

I don't think this one will do well in the competition, if I'm being honest. It's not very scary, for a horror story, which is a shame because horror is kind of my home genre and I like flexing in it. My horror fic from last year won a judge's prize, even though I don't think it was that good, so I was kinda hoping to out-do myself this time.

Ah well.
