    A dead PC...

    ...creates troubles for everyone.

So guys, my PC died. I'm fairly certain it's the motherboard (given everything else works when tested individually), and thankfully it's still within warranty (just shy of two months) so I'm hoping I can get it replaced. Goddamn asus.

    Summary that never was

Hey guys, so a single update today, still struggling with getting to work on writing.

I hate it when things like this happen, but all I can do atm is keep trying to jumpstart the creativity.

    Sorry guys

I apologize for the lack of updates. Although I am writing a bit, I've found myself in a bit of a semi-writer's block. I'll get out of it, but it is delaying the stories.

Shiiiit. Good luck!

Asus

Hoboy...

When a computer dies -- you end up sprinting to buy a new one. When a computer dies under warranty, you get to wait weeks or months while they "fix" it.

I use to build all my PC's with ASUS for years... but sadly as of late i am hearing all kinds of bad about them and some of the bad leads to things being burnt.

my latest build is a old U4 server (2007) old with loads of new goody's in it.

i wish you the best with trying to get Warranty on your MO,BO.

I highly recommend MSI motherboard.

Yeah, it's been all kinds of bad news with them lately.

A dead motherboard is extremely unlikely unless it was very poorly made. Usually the PSU dies before anything else. Strange.

Oooh, that happened to me a few years ago. Maybe this is a good time to upgrade?

For anyone reading this: be warned that ASUS has completely tanked their customer service to where reviewers are making an effort to call them out, and their motherboard quality has suffered as well. Dunno what wanderer d has but the budget ASUS boards are the worst amongst all manufacturers now.

Good luck!

Hope everything goes well with getting it fixed. The fact that it's ASUS is worrisome...

Good luck with getting warranty service! Hopefully you won't have to spend on a new board.

Damn. Sorry to hear that, D.

Hope you can get it fixed soon.

Me, I have an HP laptop. Serves me pretty well.

Yeah, I checked the power supply before anything else. That was my first thought too.

Make sure you take very good pictures of every angle (especially the socket) before you ship it out. In case they try to BS you. If you can't be down for long what cpu do you have and what mobo that went bad? We could suggest a cheap board to get you back up and running while you wait on the rma.

Edit: also depending on the board you will have bios flashback so if you did not, flash a clean bios to it and then try to post it.

Yeah, Asus used to be my go-to manufacturer for my PC builds, but their QC has tanked in the last few years along with the level of customer support. Frankly, considering the sheer number of issues popping up with their boards, I'm not surprised support has gone in the crapper as well. Here's hoping that you get reasonably quick turnaround on your warranty and they don't try to waffle on a replacement.

Ah, dammit. Legit sorry to read. I hope you can get it fixed ASAP.

Am I the only weird one who still built my own PC in 2024? :rainbowhuh:

5788214 No? I actually built mine. It's like the 10th I've built. The motherboard is less than a year old, hence it's within warranty and why I want to see if they can replace it so I don't have to buy a new one and have to deal with extra headaches.

I see. I just assumed you bought the pre-built PC because of warranty thing.
I'd say you were really unlucky that your motherboard gave up after just two months. Normally, it will give out a week after warranty expire.
