Despite the fact that Ascend is now in an AU and therefore, immune from jossing, I still feel compelled to do this because canon Twilicorn would completely nuke Ascend (and all other Twilicorn fanfics). Discord doesn't. Plus, it's fun to talk about it (and the jossing blogs seem to get more views then all the others).
For those who don't see it, that picture, which appears to show a Twilight with wings and decked out in full regalia standing next to Fluttershy, is taken from the Toyworld Magazine. It's significant because, up until now, many of the Twilicorn skeptics have been able to point out that the merch generally spoils the show (Cadance's toys were leaked several weeks before A Canterlot Wedding, the Crystal Empire set, released in summer, spoiled the season three premiere) and that, if Twilight became an alicorn, the merch would have spoiled it. It appears that merch has arrived.
I, for one, welcome our adorkable, panicky, alicorn overlady. (I can't wait to read the butthurt.)

Edit: The thought of the epic amount of incoming butthurt makes me shiver and grin in anticipation.

i agree, it does look a bit like cadence. i mean, compare the shows celestia to some of the merchandise out there, how in the whole wide world did they decide that celly was pink rather than white.
You know, I think it is so cool how you have roman numerals counting the "jossings" because there have been so many of them. It just reminds me of the mounting, overwhelming amount of evidence. Go to EqD for the shitstorm.

I feel this was hinted at in season 3 episode 1 when Luna and Celestia are talking about the one empire but at the end they mention something about twilight being all the more ready for something or other that is just so out of the blue this could be it.

If there are Twilicorn toys, I hope they don't over-pinkify her. I thought Celestia being lightish pink was bad. Then I saw a Cadence toy. She was so bright pink that I died.

Seriously. Look at how ridiculously pink she is! I think Hasbro is trying to pump as much pink into their princesses as possible without completely ignoring the show. I for one don't want Twilight to become a slightly purplish pink.
Am I the only one that's noticed those are strangely colored wings that remind me of the butterfly wings Fluttershy got? Also yes, there is a toy that has Fluttershy with butterfly wings. There are some oddities with the blind bags too. Like Berry Shine, the unicorn with the same coloring as the pony we call Berry Punch. Of course I'm sort using both of those in a way, but I'm at least mildly crazy.
In general the toys mean nothing about the about the show. Probably.

She could have Flutterwings (like Rarity did), but that raises two questions: Why would she when she can just cast the much less exhausting cloudwalking spell? and, why is she taller then Fluttershy (it doesn't appear that the shoes she's wearing would increase her height that much)?

744508 It might just be me, but that alicorn "twilight" in the main post looks an awful lot like most of the official Princess Luna toys I've seen. Including the one in the second picture of the linked post here.
Personally, I don't mind either way (other than it messing with main points in certain stories (the non-main points in other stories I'm not worried about)) depending on how they handle the situation if it turns out to be true.
I still don't see how Canon Alicorn Twilight would 'nuke' and fanfics... The mystery persists, exactly as mysterious as the first time I heard that...

It would "nuke" the fanfics because canon would show us what would happen.
For instance, if Twilight got a pair of wings and acted perfectly calm and collected, then Ascend's version of Twilight would no longer match up with canon Twilight.
It would also kill future stories. How many "Luna's plotting revenge" or "Luna's a terrified teen who's begging for forgiveness" fanfics exsist now? Very few, as canon showed Luna doesn't act that way. If Twilicorn happened, most current Twilicorn plots (she grows wings and panics/angsts) would be killed as canon would show how she would react--negating those fanfics. "Rainbow Dash breaks a wing" is a good example of a subgenre that canon killed. There are very few of those stories around anymore, because canon showed she'd be more bored that sad and mopey.
One can say that you can just toss things into an AU but why? If you disregard canon, why are you writing fanfiction? The whole point of fanfiction is to tell stories that canon hasn't used and try and make them as believable as possible. You can only do that if you use canon. You take it away, and you take away the very soul of fanfiction.
That isn't to say that AU's aren't useful tools, but it means that if canon does something, you need to take that into consideration.

744508 The point was them showing up didn't mean anything, it did turn out to be predictive yes, but Until Fluttershy grows butterfly wings it's not a sure thing, so it's evidence, but not reliable evidence.
746995 Yea, as far as I'm concerned the most important thing is the characters and setting, not individual details like what exactly happens with Discord, whether AJ's parents are dead, and other important but in some ways minor details. Those Luna fics disappeared because it was clear that Luna wasn't like that. Twilight, even if she doesn't panic, still could. Yes it might take a whole lot more, or maybe the only reason she doesn't is clearly becasue Celestia is right there and she doesn't have time to go into a panic spiral before she's told everything will be fine. Twilight can panic under stress, but also sometimes she doesn't. Like when facing off against all the major villains. What if scenarios can be fun, and sometimes it takes only a little change to make a huge difference. Ideally the chars are the same just in a different situation.
Uh, I should probably mention I don't have a single story not marked AU, and Pinkie occasionally gets lost and ends up in other universes.
