Reflections and Future Plans

Okay, so, the final chapter of the "Magic Wands and Hourglasses" fic has been posted. As I said in the comments on it, it will not be the last fic within that particular 'verse, so to speak, that I will be writing. I had some ideas, but I was having trouble just getting the motivation to do it and I figured I owed it to you all to at least leave the story in a finished state, if with some notions that signify it can continue later on. Better than leaving you all hanging mid story at least.

But now that I got a fic out of the way, I was wondering if anyone had any comments on things I could do better the next time I write a fic? Stylistic changes, plot-wise, character-wise, etc. In my own opinion, I think I may have written a little too plainly and straight out. As per the usual writer's advice, I think I did more 'telling' than 'showing'. I also could have probably done a little more descriptions. Furthermore, I think the pace might have been a little too fast for some of the plots, especially the Dreams of a Musician one.

Anyway, let me know in the comments about anything you could suggest or tips. Now let's look forward.

I've been thinking about what I want to write next, and I think I am going to go about doing maybe a one shot/short series of Time Turner's return to Ponyville in order to introduce the characters he works with. In an earlier blog I mentioned Colgate/Minuette, who would probably be the star character in any sort of spinoff. And of course, the last chapter of MWaHG introduced Derpy, who I'll admit her personality is inspired by the "Doctor Whooves and Assistant" series more than anything else. Since it would be set in Town Hall, Mayor Mare would be a side character in it. Also thinking of throwing in my OC/ponysona character Gallup Poll as a minor character as well.

I'll probably also try and use the one-shot/short series in order to try and flesh out Time Turner more, to make up for that tantalizing part from Dreams of a Musician about Clock Keeper. And while I may not use them in this story, also expect those Changelings to probably pop up again ;). And at some point Time Turner will probably get another companion during another vacation, and Trixie will be popping back up at some point as well because, well, Trixie. Still not sure who to use for it though, but I have some ideas that might be keeping in with the 'antagonist joins up with him' trend. Because for some reason I can play antagonists very well.... And no I won't be taking from Keep Calm and Flutter On and give Discord to TT as a companion.

There are also some other non-MWaHG story ideas I've been kicking around. The biggest was an idea I had starring Vinyl, Octavia, and Trixie in which Vinyl, after some kind of incident, is forced to get a roommate to keep an eye on her. As Octavia is too busy/has her own place, Vinyl is forced to hunt out a new roommate; cue Trixie. The idea was originally conceived on my RP alongside the persons who play Vinyl and Octavia, and after all the trouble I had writing Vinyl in Dreams of a Musician I realized I would need some help on that. Since those persons are busy and not available it seems, I may try and see if I can track down someone willing to co-author a story and who can write Vinyl. If you know anyone, let me know please?

I also really want to write something with the Flim-Flam Bros. cause they're probably my favorite antagonists. I had an idea of them breaking down in Appleloosa and forced to work on Braeburn's farm or something to earn the money to try and get the heck out of there. Lessons will be learned and friendships made and blah blah blah. Not a very fleshed out idea yet.

Anyway, not sure about a Rory and Amy, mostly because I can't think of any two ponies at the moment that fit that setup. And in the timeline I have in my head it would still be kind of first season of the series so that knocks out some of the characters from later no matter how fun, say, the Flim Flim Bros. might have been as companions XD.
