Hey everyone. Say, does anyone know of a good tutorial on how to draw the magic glow of a unicorn in the GIMP program? I'm looking to do some artwork, and I'm at a loss as to how to do unicorn magic.

I don't have any definite help to offer, not having GIMP and all, but if I were you, I'd just fumble about until I find something that just might work, then keep going.
Well... I don't know how to imitate the show's style in that regard using GIMP, although I've seen a tutorial floating around on youtube on how to do it in Flash ... aaand found it.
As for GIMP - well, here's something I colored using GIMP. It's not the same coloring style, but maybe it fits your interests?
If so, I'll gladly pass over the file for study. :)
Here is a Photoshop tutorial that use multiple layers that you should be able to adapt to GIMP.
