Abilities: Has all the basic abilities that are shared among unicorns; levitation and telekinesis. She also has a few spells that are useful in field work for her job as a historian, such as light spells. Most important of all, however, she has a great memory for details and dates.
Occupation: Town Historian for Ponyville.
Personality: Minuette considers herself primarily an academic at heart. She has a natural curiosity about the world around her and is always excited to learn about something new. Her main interest is primarily in history as it, as far as she is concerned, the story of how things came to be as they are. However, she dabbles a little bit in just about everything in order to try and satisfy her curiosity. Probably about the only pony in Ponyville that gets more use out of the library is the librarian Twilight Sparkle, and that’s probably just because she has the advantage of living there.
Her curiosity expands to more than just books, however; it also expands to ponies. Generally Minuette is a rather friendly pony and is always interested in meeting and talking with new ponies. At times though that curiosity can make her rather hard to get rid of as she’ll go at a pony like one of her books and not stop until she can figure them out. This can be rather endearing and can lead to making new friends, such as with a younger Time Turner, or it can make her come off as rather pushy. It is never done with ill intentions though; Minuette truly just wants to know ponies better.
As curious as she is, however, Minuette is not as adventurous as her friend Time Turner. In her mind, she wants to study things, and that could be done perfectly well without having to throw oneself into danger all the time. When possible, she has a preference for observation than getting her hooves in the dirt (archaeological digs an exception). Still, as much as she hates to admit it sometimes, she does enjoy getting pulled onto some grand adventure by Time Turner. As long as he doesn’t make a habit of it….which he has.
Speaking of him, Minuette considers him one of her closest and oldest friends. In many ways she almost sees herself as a big sister (even if she is just a year older than) to him, having been the first to really befriend him after he moved to Ponyville. Because of this she always tends to worry about him when he’s off on some adventure, and she also tends to nag him when he is back about always going off on adventures. It’s just her being a bit overprotective of him is all.
Character History: Minuette is a native to Ponyville, being born to the town’s premier dentists. She doesn’t really know how she got thrown into the big old world of history, but suspects that reading the Daring Do books that her babysitter would always read to her had something to do with it.
When she started attending Ponyville Elementary, she quickly made friends with several of the other ponies that had drawn her natural curiosity. The first was a pegasus with a very odd eye condition named Derpy Hooves, the other an earth pony named Pretty Mare who acted as if she already a full grown mare. She even had her mane dyed gray for some reason. Her natural persistence in trying to befriend them soon made the three a rather tight knit group, even if they were all considered a little odd by the rest of the foals.
The next year added the rather shy and kind of awkward Time Turner into their group. Something about him just shouted “mystery” to Minuette, though to this day she still doesn’t know all that much about his life before Ponyville. By now though she has learned to respect his wish to keep that part of his life private, but still attempts to sneak some answers out of him.
Eventually the four of them graduated from all of Ponyville’s schools, and Minuette had decided to attend the Royal Academy in Canterlot in order to get her degree in history. She kept in touch with her friends, and upon graduation requested a job as the official historian for Ponyville in order to stay close to them (that, and with Pretty Mare as the Mayor, it was an easy to get job).
Minuette will be appearing in future works set within the Magic Wands and Hourglasses verse. Said works will not be called Magic Wands and Hourglasses.

For the love of Celestia can someone help me with a name for Mayor Mare? XD. I don't even want to call her Pretty Mare; it's a placeholder based upon a misunderstanding from when I asked some friends to help come up with a name. Someone had said some other name, another person said "Pretty" and I was just like "whatever".
She's a lot closer to Romana 1, especially the nagging.
935965 I will admit I did look up some info on Romana to see if there was anything there worth using. I did like the idea of the academic vs. world traveller compare/contrast, so that was the part I focused on taking. The nagging in this case though is probably going to be more like a mother to a kid or something.
