I'm not expressing an opinion. I don't care one way or the other. It's just interesting to find that women don't like FiM any more or less than men do. IMDb posts statistics on the ratings that viewers have given to shows, broken down by viewer demographics. Look at the chart for Friendship is Magic here:
There's no difference between the male and female ratings for my Little pony except in the under 18 age group. Also note that 77% of the ratings on the site were made by males.
But also note the reported statistics are impossible. Males and females supposedly gave it an average rating of 6.6 and 6.7, while the overall average rating was 8.9. ???
Compare the FiM ratings to the ratings for Glee, which is--and I'm speaking factually here, not expressing an opinion (I've never seen the show)--a women's show:

But, if I'm reading the data right[1] it's not a men's show either? That's rather interesting.
[1] Odds that I'm not are high. I'm absurdly short on sleep, and just a minute ago it took me six tries to spell the word 'auxiliary' right. You wouldn't think there were that many ways to spell it wrong...
Methinks that the overall rating isn't just determined from user feedback. Are more professional critics given a higher weight, perhaps?
I'm operating on half remembered statistics, here. Isn't selection/sampling bias a problem with these kind of stats? No representation from people that didn't go to IMDB.
Otherwise, good to know that the show is rated well for both men and women.
1225077 Yes, it's a mostly level show, which is good. The best shows are the ones that appeal to both audiences.
If my mental math is correct, there are over 20,000 votes of androgynous origin. Logically, most of these were people who spammed 10s or 1s without divulging their gender.
That, or Friendship is Magic is an androgyne's show.

Read the vote totals. Note every user that votes has a known sex or age.
Well, you also have to ask how many men versus how many women actually watch the show. Audience size is a factor.
Still it wouldn't surprise me if it was fairly balanced overall. Though this may just be because the show is high quality - basically, if something is good enough, it doesn't matter if it is "for boys" or "for girls", everyone watches and likes it.
