    Big Day

Just a quick blog post because, well, it's that time of year again. The time when boys become men, when legends are made, when the national attention is gripped by the gridiron.

I am, of course, talking about Super Bowl.

    Blog- 8/8/2013

I apologize that I have not posted here in a while. I guess I overestimated how much time I'd have to write now with work over since I've been pretty busy with other writing as well as an at-home internship that I am doing. Plus I think I needed a little break from writing pony for a few days, but now seeing as I think I've taken enough of a break I will get back to working on fics. I just need

What is that about? I think I've heard something about it but I'm not sure.

1239555
It's disgusting. Don't read it.

tl;dr Cheerilee snaps her shit and kills the CMC and other children in horribly gruesome fashions.

1239556

...yeah I couldn't read something like that. It's too depressing.

That's why I have no interest in reading "Cupcakes".

1239562
It makes Cupcakes look like "Fluttershy's Day Spent Cuddling With Kittens, Puppies, and Baby Bunnies."

1239567

......:twilightoops:

Seriously? Daaaaammmnn

I've been meaning to see it since there are no good horror movies out nowadays. Would you recommend it Giants?

1239576

Yes I would. I don't really see many horror films (actually this and Paranormal Activity 3 were the only ones I've seen in theaters) but this movie was great. The acting was great all around, the suspense was killer and technically it is very well-done (the cinematography, sound and score. Especially the cinematography- there were plenty of awesome shots).

Even if the story is something familiar it is done very well. I highly recommend it, and also that you invest in some nightlights.

1239579 Good thing I have a giant Pikachu Plushie in my attic to keep me safe after I watch it XD

1239586

I have no stuffed animals...except a giant sock monkey my mom got me, and it would actually be counter-productive in protecting me because, well, it's creepy as all hell.

And I've seen what that clown did in Poltergeist...<shudders>

1239596 Oh god, Do not remind me of that clown scene. My Uncle thought I was going to need to see a Shrink after that thing :twilightsheepish:

1239602

Well get ready, because this film made Poltergeist feel like a kid's movie

1239610

"Look what she made me do." :pinkiecrazy:

(you'll get that reference once you see the movie lol)

1239612 Well then, I look forward to this new nightmarish experience that awaits me!

Really great movie. Felt good to be scared witless by a horror movie again, which is something I haven't felt since I was a kid.

I saw that too. It helps in those movies to just laugh and laugh. Which me and a friend did I mean c'mon the one scene where one of them is literally being bounced around the room is just really looney toons kind of funny when you think about it.

1239788

That is true. Some of the scares were pretty comical. And yeah I did laugh sometimes to make the frights a little less impacting because...well...I'm a chicken when it comes to horror lol.

I'd say some scares were funny/scary while others were just terrifying. It was a good mix.

Ever seen Cabin in the Woods? That movie is an experiment in my opinion heh. I wonder how you would take it :ajsmug: Cause i thought it was pretty cool. 1239825

Someone needs a Rainbow Dash plushie to keep him safe at night, eh Scoots? :scootangel::rainbowdetermined2:

I don't watch horror movies. I watch old episodes of Walker: Texas Ranger. It's like a horror movie, right up to the point that Chuck Norris pulls up in his pickup, calmly steps out of the driver's seat, and lets down the tailgate. The good guys win, the bad guys get beaten up and sent to jail. Then they break out of jail, and get beat up again. Don't we have enough horror in the world already?

With that said, I did watch The Skeleton Key, and I thought that was a pretty good movie. If you haven't seen it, I won't spoil the ending, but it's not a happy one! The point of the movie, in my opinion, was that the main characters put their trust in the wrong powers. Instead of relying on truth, logic, and cold steel, they started mucking about with the forces of evil in an attempt to protect themselves. They took the fight to the enemy on unfamiliar ground, and the true horror of the movie was much more subtle. It forced you to think about how often we make little sacrifices every day that give the wrong influences control over our lives, and how those influences are capable of destroying us.

At the end of the movie, you're not freaking out because somebody's guts went all over the wall, or because a girl started puking up roaches, or even because there's a clown with a knife. You're wondering how much the things you believe, the little superstitions we all have, control you. :twilightoops: That's the kind of terror that sends chills down your spine, years after the movie's over. Now, the movie has a ton of flaws in terms of acting and cinematography, but the core concept is pretty cool!

What is it with this fandom and destroying beautiful things? I've worked with kids a ton, still do sometimes. Yeah, they get on your nerves and you feel like strangling the little buggers once in a while. You just take a deep breath, and remember when you see that light of knowledge flicker behind their eyes, it'll all be worth it. There isn't a teacher I know who wouldn't take a bullet for the kids in her class. Heck, after what happened in Connecticut, I know of a few who had shall-carry permits and started bringing a little protection to the classroom. Even if it might get them in trouble. If someone came into that classroom and wanted to hurt those kids, they were going to have to go through her.

That's what teachers do for their students. They put up with all the crap so that they can hammer education into our thick skulls. Naturally, I do not speak of the blowhards who don't deserve their jobs or pensions, nor am I talking about the willfully ignorant students who besiege our educational systems. I'm talking about the Cheerilees and the Cutie Mark Crusaders, the real ones. But no, let's not write a story about a teacher who stays late to help a struggling girl with her math homework, or answer a few questions about history. Let's have her torture and murder and maim, if it bleeds, it leads!

Frak, that got long fast. Sorry, everyone, I'll shut up now. :twilightblush: Sweet dreams, NYGiants! :rainbowwild:

I actually watched a few episodes of Walker, Texas Ranger for my FYS last year. It seemed like a fun show. A bit cheesy, but fun none-the-less.

Plus it has Chuck Norris and...well...need I say more?

"What is it with this fandom and destroying beautiful things?"

I feel it has less to do with the fandom and more to do with human nature. People thing all innocence must be crushed and destroyed.

Or perhaps it is just because some bronies get a kick out of trolling the rest of the community. :trollestia:
But yeah I agree.

1239845

Yep I saw it. Yes, it was awesome.

It had an extremely weird plot twist but it was still a great watch.
