I will find myself a sledgehammer... · 7:01am Sep 13th, 2013
And beat my computer to death. I'm on the spare computer now which has a wonky keyboard, an OS too outdated to download Chrome, messed up contrast on the screen, and none of my normal painting programs... but hey, at least it runs.
What bugs me... is that I was working on a picture when my computer shut down; right when I remembered that I didn't save it after the most difficult part of the drawing was finished. Also, the drawing wasn't a question or even an update. The drawing was payment. It was half of my payment for an adoptable. Thankfully, the guy isn't in a hurry to get it but..... I was halfway done and now two hours of work is just gone unless I can find a USB cord to access my old computer from this one and MAYBE find the file to get one hour of work back.
I went through the troubleshoot for when you get just the grey loading screen for Mac for minutes on end and I'm at the end of the list where it says "You have a hardware i$$u$e" (basically I need money that I don't have to fix it) and punching the aluminum casing until my knuckles hurt probably won't do anything to change that.
So, I need a sledgehammer... or a window.
Apple Store Guy: This compute is wrecked! What happened to it?
Me: It fell out of a window.
Apple Store Guy: *jokingly* How many times did it do that?
Me: *seriously* I lost count.
Apple Store Guy: ....
Ohhhh fuuuuuck.
Hope you can figure the mess out soon...

1346390 Hope so too. I can't even safe boot it to get my files off.

Yikes... Just... Yikes.
Had that happen before... Lost all my old mp3s. Like, over 1000 songs worth.

1346404 I mean, at least I have much of my important stuff backed up.. but all my most recent artwork is just... gone. Best case scenario is at the store they can access my computer, find a recovered file of that picture I was working on, move it to my hard drive with my other artwork, then find that my computer is still under Applecare and fix it/ replace it for free.... except I think Applecare has already expired for my computer :/
Worst case scenario: I lose my art and have to start over again, have to wait for a new computer, and have to pay for it myself (which, I doubt that but I wouldn't blame my parents if they did make me save up and pay for it myself.) and use this one in the meantime.
So really, it's more a case of first world problems but it's very frustrating to say the least.

You can say that again.
Still, at least you have SOME means of contacting people.

1346420 Yeah. lol. You know, it is ironic because I was planning on taking a beak from skype for about a week....
1346431
Pffffttt!
Well, guess you'll be doing that for sure!

1346438 Ha ha ha...heh.. heh... *looks at laptop*
You know my story! I at least was able to rig this to have chrome but its still at 458MB of ram.
1346446 eeeeh. I'm trying safe reboot again.... maybe if I wait long enough it will actually take me there this time?
1346450
I have fixed 3 different laptops and I'm sure I can fix yours if I get a hold of it. Now time for a group hug!
1346486 lol. thanks. I'll take it to the apple store first though.
Agression solves everything. I once clotheslined my PC off my desk into a wall about six feet away, putting a hole in the wall and knocking several cables off the mother board. I plugged them back in, and that PC never had another error.
Good luck!

What? You think a store can top my ability? Your probably right though.
Oh oh oh oh oh! I know what you could benefit from right now. A Raspberry Pi! Its a small credit card sized computer available for the price of $35 US. Not the best desktop computer around, but it sure is cheaper than the amount of dosh I spent on books this month.
