Ok I just had this flash in my skull.
Ok this is a OctaviaScratch pairing. Though it might be a lil diffrent than what you are used too.
Octavia is still the big hit cello player, solo, group, etc. Vinyl on the other hand.....well that is where this idea kinda jumps off the cliff. Vinyl is not alive in this AU, but Tavi winds up in the Dj's old Canterlot highrise flat. No one knows how Vinyl passed but they do know that she did passaway, she left no will or instructions on what was to be done with her belongings, so Tavi pretty much gets a flat pre furnished, Vinyl's Dj gear as well. As for the tech in this AU they have cell phones, computers, etc. All powered by magical energy drawn from the lay lines and converted into ambent electrical magic.
Vinyl was still the party mare that most think of her as but she had a hidden side, and Tavi sees this with the items left behind in the flat, photo albums, well worn paper back books, silk sheets, relaxing colors and objects. Tavi, throught the story learns this side of the former Dj, until she finds her dust covered turn tables and mixing equipment, powering it up drawing Vinyl back, as a ghost, duh.
Now Tavi will not know this at first but the softer side of Vinyl will start to show as little things start to change, small at first, maybe Tavi hearing gently whispered words as she is about to fall asleep, the warmth of somepony hugging her when she had a bad day, or even the slight touch of a hoof stroking her hair. Then it moves up a few steps to Tavi finding her bowtie set out for her when she wakes, her tea set already placed in the kitchen, even the bed being made. You can see where this is going I am sure.
This keeps going until Tavi finaly desides to look more into who Vinyl was, either by looking through old newpapers or even looking on the Dj equipment and her personal laptop[yes even as unlikely as it is, that was left behind as well]. As Tavi is learning these things she finaly gets a message on her phone from a number that if you took the time would come out as 84695 or VINYL it would pretty much say that Tavi is rather cute and that Vinyl likes her, yeah getting a text message from a number that does not even work, and by name of a dead Dj would freak anyone out.
Alright that all being said......this is a romance, one sided att he start but has room for growth, I left a lot of open holes, but also filled a few, sadly my sttention span is just not good enough to fully make this into a story of my own.

If the story grabs you feel free to run with it, as far as I have seen, there are very few ghost ponies, let alone romantic stories with ghost ponies

Like always I am more than happy to help if you do run with it, I would try and make a story fully, but my grammer is a horror and my ADHD would make it impossible for me to focus
