    Izzy Moonbow: Fifth Edition Dungeoneers

It's time for Numero Tres in this series, and boy howdy is it going to be a wacky one. With only four levels to work with, multiclassing is a risky, risky business--especially in D&D Fifth Edition. Luckily for us, David Silver and his Ponyfinder setting have a few very crafty tricks to make things... a little easier. And who is the

Helping Hoof: A review of "Baking is War, Sister" · 10:58pm Feb 18th, 2014

Friendship is Magic.

I will not deny that at one point in my life, I considered friendship to be a frivolity. I couldn't understand other people, and they would rarely bother to understand me. Over the years I got... better. More open. Mostly as a storyteller, but I had a few... friend acquaintances. We were an odd little group, us. But then school ended and I was left spiraling randomly, hoping for some or other purpose in my life. And then, finally, I found something that snagged me into a community. Something that happened to have hooves.

Yes, yes, I know... typical. Granted, no angst, just boredom. But I think there's a reason my story is so usual in that fandom. And that reason is sometimes worth a reminder.

Baking is War, Sister styles itself as a comedy, with the highly straightlaced Bonbon demanding perfection from her students... who include the attentive Twilight Sparkle struggling under a magic restriction, the confused Spike who's only there for the prize, the conciliatory Lyra (replacing Rarity) who desperately tries to keep everything under control, and a very eager Pinkie Pie. The whole scene is increasingly awkward and hilarious... right up till Bonbon has had enough. It's at that point that the true strength of the story comes into play; a reflection of those of us that don't understand people trying out darndest to be friends, and how a few good real friends can make that effort worthwhile.

Plus, three headed monkey.

I give this a solid five. A gleaming gem.

And remember, a little helping hoof can go a long way!
