Inane Theory #42: The Doctor's in Equestria... · 5:58am Feb 25th, 2014
And he's not this guy.
Nope, it turns out Twilight Sparkle's the Doctor - or, more accurately, the Doctor is actually Twilight Sparkle. That's why he's so reluctant to share his real name: it's proof that he's not actually a Time Lord (and indeed, these "Time Lords" may be anything from a surrogate culture to an incredibly elaborate fabrication), but a purple pony princess from the magical land of Equestria.
Don't believe me? Well, let's look at some similarities between Twilight and the Doctor:
1. They're both clever.
2. They both make themselves look more clever, comparatively speaking, by hanging out with a younger and generally less capable companion (who is also variously a source of snark, friendly banter, and/or pathos).
3. Their dancing skills stagger along the fine line between utterly mortifying and utterly hilarious.
4. They both get on the nerves of their past/future selves.
5. The layout of their abodes is eerily similar.
6. They both have a rival who attempts to take control of their beloved "adopted" home but who they insist on trying to redeem anyway.
7. They both have a loving, supportive, and relatively well-adjusted family.
...Oh wait. Never mind. I guess this theory's debunked after all...
I need to watch some Classic Who sometime soon...
I like how the example of the Doctor getting on his own nerves via multiple incarnations was the one between 10 and 11, who by and large had a pretty amicable meeting. A stronger example would be when 2 and 3 teamed up (1 was also there, except not really; he hung out on a scaffolding because the first actor was too sick to do much at the time).
Number 5 is eerie indeed...
Also, it's entirely possible that Equestria is Gallifrey, and thus Twilight is actually the Doctor's true first regeneration. This would explain the discrepancy in point 7.
The thing is, the Doctor doesn't really fit with Equestria thematically. He's a Trickster archetype, which puts him closer to Discord than anypony else.
