New Blurb for BQ,RK · 11:17pm Mar 1st, 2014
I was thinking, the blurb that describes my story is a little lame. It reads:
The mind is limitless. William discovers this as he slowly starts forming a connection to someone else. Someone a reality away. Someone who's a queen of the only race that feeds on love.
What begins as a rather... antagonistic and unintended relationship soon blossoms into an golden opportunity to fulfill both of their desires... if things don't get to strange first.
Now, after being thrust into a role he was unprepared for and donning the new identity of Alvarium Rex, he will have to make his way in a world that is fraught with new challenges. For with each passing day, both worlds are drawn closer together; more and more of Equestria is bleeding into Earth. The consequences could be devastating.
I think I could do better. So, I came up with this:
Gatekeepers are a strange bunch. They always come in pairs, one Equa, the pony world, and one on Earth, the human world. They live in each other’s minds, share their dreams, and take on each other’s characteristics – magic included. Most importantly, they are called ‘Gatekeepers’ for a reason; each pair controls a set of portals that bridge the gap between the worlds.
But with each Gatekeeper comes a new challenge for both worlds. The first brought magic to Earth and gave the changelings a taste for pony flesh. The second shattered Earth’s sky and gave the princess of the moon clarity. The third brought the first glimpse of Oblivion, the devourer of all reality…
William Ross was a normal high school student; emphasis on was. Now, he’s the first Gatekeeper, and his partner is none other than Queen Chrysalis. With his body now warped beyond recognition and his mind trying to reconcile his old life and his new identity as Alvarium Rex, king and father of the changeling race, William struggles with the challenges of everyday life colliding with the supernatural.
For a while, things seemed to be calming down. Then the second Gatekeeper appeared, then the third, the fourth, and so on. Soon, a whole cast of characters have their counterparts marching around on a world that is not quite ready for magic yet. Tensions mount and tempers boil; where will he be when it all erupts?
What do you think?
I like it, it certainly sounds more interesting. But isn't it a little spoiler-y?
