So I started reading Fallout Equestria... · 7:58pm Mar 28th, 2014
And gave up on the second chapter.
This is practically horror. It's so brutal I...
And I thought Antipodes was something.
I just... I respect Kkat for being one of the most influential brony writer ever. I respect him even more for being my brother in faith.
However, my heart can't take horror. It's practically the opposite of everything I stand for.
I respect and value each and every sentient life to the depth my heart. Every single person is a miracle. We are walking wonders, the glory of God's creation! Even if some people turn bad or evil, there is no one lost enough to regain his value and goodness, thanks to the work of Jesus. Heck, he even made Saul (Paul), one of the greatest persecutor and murderer of Christians, into the greatest Christian apostle ever lived.
No life is worthless.
You, who are reading this, you are a miracle! Don't think of yourself anything less than that!
Before someone asks, no, I haven't read Cupcakes and I never will.
I don't want to see the embodiment of laughter, the pony possessing the deepest devotion in her world to love others , to be shown as someone who would sadistically murder her own friend.
while I do respect your ideals, I must ask that you read a story before passing judgement. uhh if thats ok with you![:fluttercry:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/fluttercry.png)

I don't see what's the problem with my "judgement". I've read the first two chapters, and categorized it under "too brutal for me"; I didn't say it's badly written or anything. I'd even go for saying that it's an extremely well-written fiction based on the first two chapters and I can anticipate that it definitely deserves that "LEGENDARY" tag on EQD.
I really want to read the whole thing, but it's hurting my soul while I'm reading through all the brutality. Unless you tell me that the gore will decrease in later chapters, I'm not planning to continue reading it.
1994144 While the gore certainly doesn't decrease, it does try to put a more human take on it than what you would see in other stories. the main character is made genuinely sick by what she sees until she has seen so much that it dampens the original effect. it may not be pretty but its certainly realistic.

And that's my exact problem. When I read a fiction (especially a first-person one), I kinda become one with the main character, feel what he feels, see what he sees, learn what he learns, and even change as he changes. And I don't want to change into a mindset that is dampened to such a horrible things.
That's why for example I love Last of the Dragonlords and its sequel. The world that the writer describes is extremely lethal as characters die constantly; yet, the main character (Fluttershy) keeps on believing that life is a valuable thing, despite being the greatest warrior of Equestria, and despite all the horrible things she saw. And also, there is almost no detailed gore description in the fiction.
1994157 the biggest conflict in the story is the fact that the main character is still trying to hold on to her humanity (ponyanity?). She sees how the wasteland can change somepony and she doesn't want that to happen to her

).
Hm... so the main philosophy is practically the same as in Last of the Dragonlords. The only problem is the gore then (which is still a big problem for me
Thank you for the conversation. I might not continue to read FO:E, but it's always nice to hear a different opinion than mine.
1994165 I too have enjoyed this conversation in English
