Perhaps you could have some kind of flashback, stating why Pinkie Pie started this killing. I know it's for the cupcakes, but there could be a darker story to it than that...
Or perhaps Pinkie Pie has to kill another filly and...I don't know.
Oh! Or-Or! One of the Cakes' kids comes up. Maybe their too young, but it could be a time skip.
