Lovelies, just something I wanted to ask.
I read fanfiction often. I write fanfiction less often. When I do write, I write with my heart and soul. I write as an art form. I try my best. I work hard. I try to improve.
Home come, then, I see stories that get loads more attention then mine, more support, more praise. Stories that I could've written, stories that don't seem all that great, stories that make me sit back and wonder: why is it better than mine?
I haven't found the answer. Maybe you guys could help me.
I understand I'm not the best, nor will I ever be. I understand that other stories warrant attention too. I see stories that are written solely for attention or popularity, though, and I don't understand. I don't understand why something someone wrote with no passion, no drive, and no creativity is considered better than something I pour my heart and soul into.
Maybe I just want attention. Maybe I'm blind and the author did write with their heart and soul. Maybe I just want to think I'm better than I am. But I see these stories and I want to stop writing.
Am I wrong? Probably. Am I overreacting? Most likely.
Still...
I can't shake these feelings.

They gain popularity because the internet is stupid.
1) They've usually been around for a while, so they've had time to accumulate followers.
2) They jump on the meme bandwagon. Like the recent Button Mash fic stuff that recently happened.
3) They write popular genres and topics.
4) The internet average likes trollfics, like these people's.
5) The internet average is cruel.
