I suppose that's a fitting enough title.
Anyhow, yes! Fate occasionally sees fit to make our lives far more interesting than most of us would really prefer. Some call these adventures, but I prefer my adventures stacked safely on an appropriately-labeled shelf in a library. After an extended absence of many months, I finally find myself in the position to write again, and write I shall.
Regarding ongoing projects: I have managed to get ahold of my editor, the wonderful TehSporkBandit, who was also drawn temporarily away from the writing scene. He has assured me that he is still willing to proofread From Gander to Gendarme, and I am eager to take him up on that offer. I've a detailed plotline drawn up that should keep the chapters flowing smoothly, so expect an update to that in the upcoming weeks.
Regarding new projects: Coincidence struck as I returned to find Equestria Daily running a writing challenge. As the first story I'd ever managed to write just so happened to be for a similar contest, I thought it would be a fitting return to the grindstone by submitting an entry. I will admit, I rushed a little more than I would have liked, as I only started this project... well, yesterday, truth be told, and managed to hammer out something vaguely story-like with two hours left to spare on the submission clock. The chapters suffered in my haste and a proper proofreading just wasn't going to happen in the time-frame I had available, so I'm a little unsatisfied with the result but it's been released for the world to see.
The contest premise was a new take on an old idea, and the prompt I chose was in the vein of Fallout: Equestria. "In an Equestria devastated by an apocalyptic war, the few that remain try their best to survive or rebuild--however they can." As FO:E was itself a re-imagining of a different universe, I felt the most fitting way to do it justice was to find a concept that's yet to see much attention, and then fling ponies at it until something sticks. The result: The Exterminator, a pony take on the Terminator franchise. I settled on the Terminator because I don't know of any ponified Terminator stories, and the universe is ripe for ponification. I mean, look at Arnold and then look at Bulk Biceps. It practically writes itself!
(P.S. if someone around here does know of a decent ponified Terminator story, please let me know. I'd love to read it.)
That's it for now. Hasta la vista, baby, and thanks for reading.
