Zero Blogs: Reason for writing · 7:20pm Apr 9th, 2015
I'm the kind of person who likes to have a purpose for everything I do. This includes my writing. If I write something, it will be for a reason.
I wrote From a Shimmer to a Shine to test the depth of fimfic writing. Also to see how my own personal style would mesh with Equestria.
I wrote Deafened by the Silence to test my skills writing background ponies and delve into a bit of darker content. In doing so, I discovered that I really enjoyed writing the (platonic!) relationship between Vinyl and Octavia.
As for Discovered Attack, I said that when I wrote Shine's last chapter that I might continue or I might not. The tipping point was whether or not I could find a need that Shine didn't fill. And I did.
Looking over the comments to Shine, I found that the most consistent flaw with the story was that it felt rushed. Therefore, this new work will be with the goal of correcting that flaw.
Of course, that needs to be more than just adding more words. That's the WORST way to fill out a story. Doing that just ends up with a lot of unnecessary padding and pointless filler. I don't want that.
For the time being, I think I'll focus on establishing the differences between my two foils. As always, constructive criticism is welcome.

P.S. BTW, most of the blogs involving Discovered Attack might still be Tagged for Shine in the future. Both because Discovered builds off of Shine and because it's the most likely way you guys will read it. The last thing I want is for you to miss anything important.
