    Chapter 24 update!

I'm a little bit behind the new update schedule I intended to keep for myself, but work has been hell at the start of this year so far! The chapter is mostly done however, so I will be posting this weekend hopefully! I just need a few hours off to polish it up!

    Story Plans!

It is a new year, and I am doing my level best to keep my story going, so I can finish it and start on the long deserved re-write of A spell to Happiness.

However, just so I can give everyone, (mainly for people who care :p) an idea of my daily life and an idea of what kind of update schedule I can put up, here's my current daily routine.

    7-2:30 Work!
    3:30- 10:30 School!

    Re-Write Incoming!

Just a heads up to some of my readers, I am going to be re-writing Spell too Happiness very soon! I've been wanting to re-edit it for a while, but I'm going to go through and re-write it now that I have a bit more experience writing, and hopefully redo what I feel is a terrible ending to the story. So stay tuned, and wait for the update!

Sneak peak to new story! · 3:21am May 8th, 2015

I just wanted to post a sneak preview to a new story I'm currently working on! Let me know what ya think in the comments below!

It was late, and my temper was already strained by sleep loss and magical exhaustion. Even without glancing outside, I could tell it was mere hours before the sun would rise, and my chance would be lost for another month. All things considered, I doubt my chances would be any better at the next full moon. I had spent months perfecting this spell, and every test showed that the spell would work, but I was weary to trust it without being completely positive. I only had one chance at this after all.

My attention drifted around the room, glancing at what little of my possessions I had managed to keep over the years. Books and pictures of my family sat in a heap in the corner, just hiding a small blue corner of fabric that my mind told me to be Spike’s old blanket. His bed sat beside it, a thick layer of dust showing its disuse. The sight of the dust made my eyes water, and my breath catch painfully in my chest. Idly, I wondered where Spike was, but quickly forced the painful thoughts from my mind.

Turning, I ran a hoof across the circle of runes carved into the center of what used to be the basement floor of the Ponyville library. Considering the lack of a first and second floor now, I dubbed the room the new ground floor. Runes sat in the center of the room, with eight magically charged crystals sitting at equidistance from each other. The last of the crystals spun gently in the air above me, a tangled mass of gold attached to a jewel that used to be the Element of Magic as my magic siphoned into its core.

My eyes twitched upwards as wind howled through the hole in the floor above me, the black of burnt wood visible at the edges. The fur on the back of my neck stood on end as I fought back the foul memories rising to the front of my mind. Smoke filled my senses as the sensation of heat washed across my coat. I shivered involuntarily, fighting back the urge to whine as phantom fire licked at my fur.

“Stupid…” My face fell into an angry grimace. Looking down, my eyes ran across the floor until they landed on the only possession I still owned of hers. It was a picture, still in a broken frame with shards of glass glittering in its corners. It had never crossed my mind to get it replaced. Like everything else, it seemed right for this to just stay broken. I flipped it over, glaring at the picture of Celestia. A younger version of myself sat between her hooves, a gleeful smile on my face as I basked in my teachers attention.

"Why Celestia? Why did you ever think some stupid stones and a bunch of mares that barely knew each other could stop her? Why didn't you have a contingency plan!?" I huffed, snarling as I slammed the chalk against the board.

My attention was drawn back to the blackboard, eliciting a slight wince as I snatched a fresh piece of chalk from the table. My gaze roamed over the Arcane symbols, mathematical equations and theoretical thaumaturgy sprawled across its black surface. Books towered to either side of the board, easily clearing my horn, with some reaching twice that height. My hooves clopped across the floor as I absentmindedly snatched three books from the top of the stack, flipping through them with a burst of magic. My eyes darted back and forth, cross referencing their contents quickly. Snorting in dismay, I frowned as I realized that the books contradicted each other with each chapter.

“If I can just fuse the gateway by injecting more power into the regalia… It should stabilize the temporal shift. I don’t need to end up 100 years from now, or any such nonsense. “ I could hear myself muttering, but with no one around to hear, I allowed myself to chatter. I brushed my mane back from where it had fallen, wincing slightly as my hoof brushed the cut across my cheek. My cheeks flushed angrily as my eyes trailed down to take stock of the various cuts and bruises across my body, visible through my purple coat.

My eyes roamed over my coat for a moment, lingering on my mangled tail. Split ends and burnt chunks took up much of what was once, in my own opinion, a beautiful violet and rose tail. A shallow smile appeared on my face at the memory of what it once looked, and might look like again. Some of the tension I was under seemed to lift from my shoulders, even though it only lasted seconds, returning as I glanced around room, and remembered for a brief second all that once was.

Despite my best efforts, I snorted angrily, attempting and failing to breath slowly. Angry tears slid down my face, dripping to the ground below me as I huffed. The chalk floating above me turned to dust under my anger, followed by a muffled hiss as the useless books floating above me started to smoke, the pages curling under an invisible heat. Within seconds, the books burst into flames.

If the ash from the books hadn’t settled on my nose, it would have been very probable that the flames would have set what little remained of my treehouse alight. As it were, I reined my temper in and magically extinguished the remains of the books. After grabbing a new stick of chalk, my eyes proceeded to roam over the blackboard once more as I took a deep breath.

“Can’t stay focused..” I groaned, ears pressed flat against my skull as I filled in a few blank spots across the board, magic correcting the alignment of the items spread out on the floor behind me. My eyes drooped slowly, held open only by the impending deadline that would come at sunrise.

A thrill ran through my body as I filled in the last few numbers of the equation I was working on. I took a step back, eyes darting from side to side as I double, and triple checked my spellwork. Glancing upwards at the large crystal, I allowed myself a smile as it hummed loudly with magic. A burst of magic directed the crystal to the center of the circle, adding just a touch of a levitation spell beneath it to keep it floating above myself.

I stepped forward, taking my place at the center of the circle as I pulled as much magic as I could hold into my horn. I looked around, the catalyst spell just waiting to be released on the tip of my horn. With a smirk I released the charge smiling as a powerful wind swept through the room, parting my fur with its speed and knocking the picture of Celestia and myself to the floor. Unlike the other times, I didn’t bother picking it up.

I am going to a better place after all.

I'm glad it interested you. If this story goes as I intend it to, it's gonna easily be my longest story!

Got any ideas on what the story might be about?
