Stole this from Tumblr, since I don't have a Tumblr, I'll do it here, and instead of PMing me, just ask in the comments.
Basically, ask me anything about my stories and I'll answer as best I can.
\m/ I like the devil's music (and his beard). Hide your daughters etc. I mostly write Discord stuff, because nobody parties like a trickster god.

You've written about Discord's mother (Nature) a lot. Does your version of Discord have a father?

He doesn't, because technically Nature doesn't have a gender. She's an actual entity, but she's also a metaphor for Discord's emotions and wants and fears. She's his mom and his dad, and the voice in his head. Everyone's connected to her, but he's connected more than most because nature and chaos are inseperable.
Have you ever thought of writing Discord as a beginner in the magic world of relationship? You know, see how he deals with the little problems every couple has and eventually with the ordinary routine of a long-term engagement?
I suppose it's more a theoretical question about future stories...if it's okay with you

I'm not sure what you mean by "beginner." Do you mean he's never had a lover before? Because I can't write him that way. He's centuries old at least, so the idea of him never having any experience doesn't seem to fit him- even if they were casual flings.
I also don't see him being ordinary about anything. Even if he were to get engaged or married, said pony he ended up with would have to be very understanding about what he needed in order to be happy, and Discord very rarely stays in one place.
That said, I am thinking of writing a comedy one shot about engagement, but it's comedy rather than romance. :)
Thus far, your work has focused quite a bit on Discord. You write him well, and you've written him in several different kinds of situations.
Do you feel like there are any kinds of stories you'd want to tell that might focus on other characters? Perhaps just within the scope of a one-shot?
3129083 I was thinking about a first time in a mature/healthy relationship. Something like "ok, so we love each other, we are finally togheter and I really want to stay with you for the rest of times....what now?". I know he had many lovers and he already loved in the past millennia, but with Fluttershy it would be the first time with someone who understands him, the first occasion to build something. That said, I can't wait to read your one-shot ;)

I did actually consider writing a one shot after watching The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone, in which Pinkie and King Gregor's statue flirt madly with one another, but I wasn't sure I could carry off that scenario properly for a great length. Perhaps it will become a short blog post one day.
Other than that, I don't think so, and the reason is I feel like I actually struggle to write any other characters unless they're bouncing off Discord. I actually struggle writing large parts of chapters that do not involve him. The reasons I can think of for this are:
a.) I know a lot about the Trickster. Since childhood I've read everything I can get my hands on with regards to Trickster tales. I've used it as a metaphor for myself and as a means of coping with my bipolar disorder. After speaking to other Bipolar people at a mental health group I once attended, I apparently am not the only one who does this, though they don't necessarily take on the persona of trickster. One woman called her bipolar a form of "divine madness." When you are manic, it does feel as if you have the power of a god in you--a largely destructive god that tells you to do things that feel good but may not necessarily BE good FOR you. The trickster does this often, and it comes back to bite him in the arse. Discord is a trickster.
b.) It's been flipping ages since I've found a fictional character that resonated so much with me. I feel I can relate to Discord, because he's a screw up who is trying. His desire to be liked and to make people laugh is something I've also felt. His struggle to be himself while still containing this powerful force that tells him to do destructive things is something I know only too well.
c.) So i guess writing Discord stories is an outlet for all this. While I love lots of other My Little Pony characters, I feel as if I can't get under their skin as well, if that makes sense.

I guess I haven't written anything like that because I'm still writing him leading up to being with Fluttershy in Taxonomy. He's not there yet. I think he would struggle with any sort of "normal" relationship. Luckily Fluttershy isn't necessarily a "normal" girl, and she would probably understand his need to not do ordinary things like live in the same house or stay in one place.

FWIW I had a friend back in high school who had bipolar. I never felt like I could find the right things to say when he was really really down, but he got me into some cool stuff like Warhammer 40,000 and I liked hanging out with him. He kind of moved on and made good, but...
sorry to hijack your thread there...

Naw, it's all good. I don't mind talking about it. :)
I was only diagnosed 2 years ago, and when I was I was pretty much like: "THIS EXPLAINS SO GODDAMN MUCH"
haha
