You Smell That? That's the Clearing of the Air... · 4:55am Jul 3rd, 2015
So, my most recent story Mute (not counting Scotch on the Rocks) I think, has done pretty well. With 89 likes to only 8, I think that's a win in my book. But, I recently got a comment that contains, practically a book on why that story is a 3.5/10.
Obviously this girl/guy had a lot of time on their hands.
You can still go see it in the comment boxes below the story, you can even see my reply as well. But, with that comment came a sudden realization. An epiphany if you will.
I don't write my stories for the fame, I write them because writing is the only way I can express my creative thinking. Like I've mentioned before, I'm not a good artist. I can't dance, I can kinda sing, and I don't have a lot of money to buy the tools that can help me with those skills. So to me, writing was like an angel from the sky granting me a gift from God himself.
Now, I just want to state now that I know I have grammatical errors in almost all of my stories. I know my stories don't always do well. But with only two losses under my belt to... 1, 2, 3, 4 5... 16 wins I think that's winning. But those grammatical errors, those pesky problems that always seem to make my story not a perfect 10 or even 8. But it's those same errors that make me believe that I have a deeper connection with the audience reading my stories. It shows that I'm no robotic, limitless, writer that seems to manufacture perfect stories like a factory... I don't want to name any names here but... There's a couple of those authors on my mind.
Anyway, those grammatical errors kinda give me a little connection with the folks reading my work. I'm relatable in the way that I can make mistakes like all of you can. If you're perfect, then great, that means you're better than someone! Here's a gold sticker! I just wanted to say what's on my mind at the moment. So, next time I publish a story and you see a grammar error or something along that line, that just means that's me saying,
"I'm just a fella who writes... And is obsessed with barbecue."
