Littlecolt

I write about small pastel-colored ponies and do bad things to them. Ask me about anything, I love talking about my stories even more than writing them.

    Progress Report

For those wondering ever since my previous and somewhat ominous post, yes, I have been writing again. Progress is moving along, although unlike when I was in my prime, I have less time to do it each day when I can. The next chapter will be released when it is ready, but also not before I go back and do some minor - MINOR - edits to previous chapters of Pinked. There are certain things I want to

    The Brainwashing of My Father

My name is Zanzil. I am a Changeling. This is as much my story as it is the story of my father, a proud member of the Changeling race, and a hero of Equestria. His name was Dorsa, and he was bigger than life itself. Even now, I can remember him looking down upon me as a mere spawn and smiling as he told me about my people and our history.

    Frazzled

I can't lie, and while I feel bad about it, my new position at work has me completely overworked and frazzled. I can't do anything but get a breather on breaks, and after work each day I just don't want to do anything. On the weekend, I do have things I do, but it's just very... brain off.

I really hope I can get back into where I was after EFNW just before I took the new position.

Trying hard to write, write, write

I am trying hard to write through the last of Book 6. I hadn't forgotten, but I had been going through a lot in my personal life. The death of a friend, financial troubles, and a budding relationship that has now seemingly crashed and burned have kept me in a slump for a long time.

The Only Blog Post I Will Make About Patreon ™ · 2:28am Jul 20th, 2015

You may have noticed the little in my user picture that appeared last week, or this may be your first time seeing it. Lots of people in the MLP fandom are familiar with this logo, so it shouldn't need too much of an introduction. To put it simply, I have created a Patreon page. Patreon is a website dedicated to fans giving back to content creators: Video producers, artists, musicians, authors, webcomic creators, game makers, and many other areas of creative work. Think of it as signing up to give a tip to the people who make the free content you love.

My Patreon is set up so that it will pull a tip from my patrons for every 5,000 words that I publish to FimFiction. That word count will be increased if I manage to become more regular a writer, which is the goal of the Patreon page. Anyway, you can sign up for any amount you want to put forth, and set a monthly maximum, so you are in complete control over how much you want to tip each month.

With my Patreon comes some bonuses, which you can read about on the page. I'll describe them briefly here. Each level includes all the previous levels' perks as well.

$1 level - You get early access to story and chapter releases, and you can suggest story ideas to me.
$5 level - You can vote on what I work on next, though TCoL will be every other release at least.
$10 level - You get to tell me what to work on next, including any story you suggest (Like a commission). It overrides the usual vote.
$20 level - Character insert into stories, within reason (It can't clash too much with what I have planned already if it's a suggestion for TCoL)
$50 level - So, I am trying to get some physical copies of TCoL made. Limited supply. We'll see how it pans out. If it doesn't there will still be something super awesome for anyone at this tier.

Two things I want to stress more than anything else about this:

1. This is not about money to me, it's about having people pushing me forward in a very real way. Anyone who isn't some huge talent like Atryl who thinks they can make real money on Patreon is probably delusional. I want to snap myself into good habits and make writing a big part of my life. By joining my patreon, you are helping me do that!

2. Even if I never reach a single milestone on Patreon, absolutely nothing will change! I will not stop trying to improve myself, I will not stop writing TCoL, I will not stop coming up with wacky one-off stories. I am not holding my writing hostage until I get paid or anything like that, like I said, this isn't about money. However, people putting money, something that has real value, towards my work will make me feel the pressure to be a better me. That's what this is about. It's about me being awesome and you being the fuel for that.

Thanks for reading this, and thanks for reading my stories!

Yes, I DID tag Conquering of Love in this blog post, sorry if that bugs you. As the title of this post states, this is the ONLY TIME I will ever blog post about this subject. I am not the kind of guy who will whore this thing out every other day and spam it all over the place. That is not my style, and will never be!

So yeah! Thanks for your consideration! The Patreon page is here if you don't want to scroll back up to click the link.

Setting the payment milestone by word count instead of chapters. That's a good idea.

Also didn't know they'd added a Patreon option to profiles

Well, I made the user icon myself. There's no support for Patreon on FimFic, you just have to set it up the best you can.

And yeah, by word count is truly the way to go for authors, and I can tweak it if I need to. I know another author who is a bit more prolific than me currently who has it set to 10k. That seems like a good spot, honestly, and if he can do 2 10k releases per month, that's awesome for him.

Me, I'm just hoping to get a few people backing me and push as hard as I can. If I can do two 5k releases per month, that would be a spectacular speed increase for me. I need speed and dedication! That's the goal.

3253707 I struggle to manage five hundred words a day. I know how you feel
