Zero Blogs: Return of Reviews · 9:42pm Aug 26th, 2015
Okay then. So apparently Shine has landed itself on the high priority read list of a well-known fanfic reader and reviewer (not saying who they are just for safety's sake). I'm both excited and nervous. Excited because it's on the high priority list instead of the middle or lower lists (there are quite a few), and that a good review could mean wonders for the ShineVerse as a whole. Nervous because I really don't want a repeat of what happened with Cryosite. Her cruel words and utter lack of Empathy left a bitter taste in my mouth that remains to this day.
But back to the matter at hand. As for as I know the story hasn't been reviewed yet. I guess the reviewer hasn't completed it yet. I'm not surprised. Even the high priority list has over 300 entries. So until then, I can only wait until it's posted. They leave a comment on each story they've reviewed linking the user to said review.
If I am to be honest guys: I'm scared. I shouldn't be, I know, but I still am. Due to some crippling insecurity issues, I have a hard time understanding how I can possibly have fans of my work. They think it's better than I do sometimes. As such, the bad comments tend to linger longer with me than the good ones sometimes. And on my absolute worst days, sometimes I wonder if they're right. And I am just wasting my time.
But then I remember the rest of you. The ones who've stayed with me and new faces joining in. MustacheMerlin, PinkieLunaShy, 00RaiserGundam, Knight of the Raven, Mugen Kagamaru, Rise Fanboy, Femiko, Kurito-Persona and more. According to my statistics, I'm getting around 65 views a day. Sixty-five people, viewing my stories, every single day. That's pretty good.
So anyway, whether the review is good or bad, I'll keep going. As any writer should. I'll keep moving forward, making the Shineverse, and keep getting better and better. And while the naysayers swarm and try to bring us down, we'll be taking the road less traveled:
Right to EQD.
You've got nothing to worry about. Take it from someone who knows: words can sting, true, but you can't please everyone AND yourself. Hay, you can't please everyone period. All you can do is acknowledge that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and listen to theirs with a grain of salt. Just be sure to make sure YOU are happy with your work first, or you'll spend your time, energy and talents chasing the wind.
Nevertheless, I wish you the best of luck!
