There is NOTHING More Frustrating as a Writer... · 7:04pm Aug 28th, 2015
than losing what you were working on. Trying to start over and recreate what you were doing just completely saps the work ethic out of you. It's depressing and frustrating and I wrote 600 words of my pinkie pie story and apparently i didn't save or something and it's EXTREMELY frustrating GRRRRR
You mean when ideas grow out of you?
May I recommending giving Google drive a try?
It does require a constant internet connection, but I haven't lost a single line of text since I started using it. Rock-solid auto-save function, and not bad spell-check to boot.
Still, sorry to hear that. Never fun losing hard work.
I use a Chromebook for all of my writing and Google Docs.
I NEVER lose data. Ever.
3353698 yeah, maybe i should.
I. Fucking. HATE. That! I lost something like 10,000 words of a story once. I just threw that one in the bin.
3353799 Oh god that's fucking brutal.
3353868 Yeah. The "choose your own adventure" style story that you see in my scraps story collection? That was like 12,000 words at one point. Then the file just disappeared somewhere. I guess I must have accidentally deleted it, but I have no idea how I could have done that. All that was left was an older version at like 2,000 words...
I've experienced this, and yes, it is very frustrating and extremely soul-crushing. But when I finally got around to re-creating my works, I found that I liked the second incarnations even more.
As an extra measure, always have it saved in at least two places.
When that happens to me I give up.

3353698 Good news I actually confused my two pinkie stories I'm currently working on with each other! I didn't lose anything.

Well, this is good news. Pinkie Pie should throw a party... celebrating her own survival.

Awesome to hear that! Glad you didn't actually lose anything! =3
Protip: Gdocs autosaves every time you stop typing.
Also, is really great for editing purposes
