Twilight can dance and the end is neigh! · 6:46pm Sep 19th, 2015
So I had an epiphany today while watching the new episode. Throughout recent episodes, I've been lamenting the things the art team has been doing with settings and things like Rarity's dresses, and today I think I figured out a bit of what they're thinking. You see, today's episode was 1920's noir with Rarity. And that made it all come together for me. FIM takes place in the Equestrian equivalent of the early 20th century! It explains so much! They hydroelectric dam from Mare Do Well for example proves that they have electricity, but it hasn't been adopted by the mainstream populus yet. It also resembles the hoover dam, which was built at the tail end of the Great Depression. Their architecture has heavy Neo-classical influences, and was a popular style during the twenties. Precious metals and gemstones are everywhere in the upper crust of Canterlot, just like the twenties. Then look at Rarity's dresses! They're horribly unfashionable now... but that's because they're also about a hundred years out of style. Take this for example:
Incredibly tacky right? But back in the day...
Then there's Pinkie's rock farm. What the heck is a rock farm anyway? Could it be a quarry? Some places were still built with stone back then, rather than wood, concrete, and steel, so a quarry is totally something that would be around. In fact, my great great something grandpa ran one in the late 1800s to early 1900s. And now for the really shocking thing: Twilight can dance. I think that this:
Is the quadruped equivalent of this:
random limb flailing and all.
Clearly this is the first sign of the apocalypse! But there have been many more lately. It's horrifying to contemplate, but I think we may be nearing the end of MLP:FIM as we know it. Have you noticed all the dreams coming true in season five? Cranky and Matilda get married, Rainbow and Gilda make up, Twilight reunites with her Canterlot friends, Rarity has a boutique in Canterlot, and Rainbow Dash is a Wonderbolt now! It's almost like Hasbro are tying up loose ends! Then there's the Friendship Games, which will apparently star the human Twilight the last two EG movies hinted at, while magic leaking from Equestria will finally come to a head. There's no way this is the end of MLP though, even if FIM is done. Have you noticed the flood of new and interesting background ponies this season? What if they aren't really background ponies? What if Hasbro is subtly introducing us to the main characters of whatever comes next? It's all blind speculation of course. That's a lot of stuff, but not quite enough yet. Personally, I'm not going to give up hope until the CMC find their cutie marks. When that happens, it's all over.
But what do you guys think? Am I crazy? Should I get a tinfoil hat to go with my cardboard sign?
