'The Sunshine Chronicles' Cancellation and Synopsis Part 1 · 7:18pm Oct 3rd, 2015
Yeah... I've been wracking my brain lately, but I just can't figure out where I was with The Sunshine Chronicles and its sequel The Oblivion Fulcrum. I mean, I know the story overall, but I'm not sure if it's my lack of ability as a writer or lack of patience or the fact that I've spread myself completely thin with like seven or eight different pieces of work at once, but I don't see the stalemate with myself ending anytime soon.
So, yes, The Sunshine Chronicles is officially cancelled. Don't know how many people are upset by that, but I'm sure you didn't care for the wait either.
Anyway, I'm sure you're all curious at least what that nuclear bomb of a train wreck would have led to eventually anyway, right?
The Sunshine Chronicles was essentially just going to be life as usual for newlyweds Applejack and Rainbow Dash. It was a slice of life romance, pure and simple, with a touch of the supernatural thrown in when Applejack becomes mysteriously pregnant. Following their marriage and feeling guilty for knowing she could never give AJ the family she wanted, Rainbow set out on a quest to find a way to give it to her. Twilight was initially in on Rainbow's attempts, and though doubtful about the possibility, had given Rainbow one of three mystical books said to show the way to mythical "Well of Miracles".
Visiting Canterlot, Rainbow Dash appealed to Princess Celestia about whether or not she knew of the whereabouts of the second piece of the map. Though she knew where it was, Princess Celestia refused to give it over, believing the journey too perilous to be made. Dejected, Rainbow made to return home, before she was stopped by Princess Luna. Luna took Rainbow Dash to the side and told her of the book, hidden in the secret Two Sisters' Archives, and passes her the key to gain entry. Sneaking in in the middle of the night, Rainbow whisks away and, with the second book in-hoof, is shown a magical vision of where the third is hidden.
Taking a train to the Crystal Empire, Rainbow Dash entreats to Cadance to grant her the last book. Princess Cadance reveals that the three books were separated for reasons unknown even to her. While she has sworn an oath to safeguard all of love's endeavors and gifts her the book she seeks, she asks her to sleep an evening at the palace to decide. She invites her to the Grand Lovers' Masquerade -- knowing that her friends will be there, and hopefully talk her out of her journey.
Coming across Applejack in-disguise, Rainbow resists the temptation to return home, and takes the mystical map with her, out into the uncharted Frozen North.
After penetrating the nigh-unbearable cold and the wicked creatures of the Icy Forest, Rainbow Dash is ambushed by a zebra tribe calling themselves only "The Sentries". After enduring a series of tests of her purity, they guide her through the Eternal Storm, to an ancient fountain known as the Well of Miracles. Drinking of its waters, Rainbow's soul becomes separated from her body and ascends to a higher plane of existence.
There, she communes with the Six.
Awakening from her coma-like state on the outskirts of Ponyville, Rainbow returns to her lover with the gift of the Essence of Miracles powering her. Making love to her wife that evening, the purity of Rainbow's commitment to her wife allows Applejack to conceive a foal -- Sunshine Delight.
Unbeknownst to the two parents, however, this miraculous child has caused an ancient force to stir from its slumber...
(So yeah, that's the background and the beginnings of The Sunshine Chronicles. It's halftime. I'm tired. I'll finish the other half later. )
Nuuuu!
The Masquerade sounds like it would've been great fun to read. Shame :(
Jesus fuck, man.
Why the hell would you ever cancel this?

Sorry, fellas. I always intended to come back to it eventually, but it just never found a place in the schedule. Figured folks would rather see what would have happened if I'd ever gotten around to writing it.
Think of it as an Austraeoh-level (at least, in terms of length) story, but condensed into a few basic plots. ^_^;

You sound like you spread yourself thin. It happens. Unfortunate, but I'll still keep these if you change your mind in a year or so...
