THAT EPISODE (Spoiler Warning) · 6:23am Oct 11th, 2015
First of all, before I spoil anything, let me get this out of the way:
There! Now...
OHMIGOSHOMIGOSHOMIGOSH!!!
The episode opens with a song. Cool! I mean, that doesn't happen a lot! In fact, the last time that happened was...
Twilicorn.
Huh. Should have been our first clue that something big was about to go down.
Anyway, with help from the CMC, Pipsqueak manages to beat Diamond Tiara and become class president! All despite DT's attempts to undermine him with a villain song. And blackmail, but mostly her villainous singing.
Silver Spoon finally got fed up with DT! A hundred fanfics just felt themselves getting validated!
Then it turns out DT's mom is a whole lot worse than DT. Which begs the question: how much sh*t did DT have to go through after losing her position as editor-in-chief? Or not being chosen to carry the Ponyville flag?
And then... DT gave us a heartfelt song with lots of feels? What kind of strange alternate universe is this?!
CMC tries to help her? That's surprisingly nice of them given how she's treated them. But then again, this show has always been about friendship and making amends, so cool.
Aaaand DT tries to go back to her old ways. But the CMC try to convince her with a song.
The moment of truth... DT accepts the CMC as her friends?! And becomes all helpful in fixing up the school? Wow, this episode is a doozy!
So, it turns out DT's special talent is getting others to do what she wants. It's just that she didn't really know how to do that, and the CMC helped her find her true talent after she'd lost i-
Ooooh. So that's where the Lost Mark comes from.
Then we get a really cute scene where the crusaders admits that they really enjoyed DT find her calling, and that even if they never finds their own cutie marks, they want to help other ponies find their own calling...
Wait.
What?
WHAT?!
WHAT?!!
WHAT.
...
I'M NOT CRYING!!! IT'S LIQUID PRIDE!!!
Our little Crusaders are all grown up!
I SAID IT'S LIQUID PRIDE DANGIT!!!
Anyway, a huge celebration is held, and the sisters tell the Crusaders how proud they are. Much liquid pride is shed. Especially from Big Mac.
Very poignant given what we saw in the last episode.
And then they end... with the intro. Or at least a version of it where the CMC get a picture taken of their new marks.
Well, That's it. I don't usually do this sort of thing, but I just had to right now, because this was the best episode of season 5. Unless the finale manages to...
Nah, there's no way it can top that.
P.S.: is anyone else getting the feeling that Diamond Tiara is now Sunset Shimmer 2.0?
Answeing that last question: Yep.
Here's to hoping another great response letter for this fantastic epsiode
