Incoming Chapter (soonish) · 4:41am Nov 23rd, 2015

After an unconscionably long delay, I can finally tell you that the next chapter of Onto the Pony Planet will be along soon.

How soon?

Target date is November 30th.

I'd like to get it to y'all sooner, but I don't think that's going to be possible. It's out to all my pre-readers, and normally at this point, I'd have less than a week turnaround, but I'm getting ready to leave for California for Thanksgiving.

Barring the most boring family get-together ever, I won't have any time to do much editing work over the next week. That's the bad news.

The good news is that I'll be stuck on airplanes or in terminals for quite a while, which will likely be time that I am able to spend doing some editing on paper copies, and possibly completing some other new stuff. You probably didn't know this, but much of Pinkie Pie vs. the TSA was hand-written in an airport terminal.

Yeah, that's right; I'm so old-school that some of the stuff you're reading was written with a pen first, and then transcribed to a computer.

From the Wiki

Anyway, to make up for the long hiatus, here's an unedited preview:

Diamond's gaze kept returning to Dale. She liked him. He wasn't very demanding, and tried his very best to fit in. At first, she'd been bothered by how he'd do things that she was supposed to do for him, but she'd come to realize that was just how he was. He wasn't insulting her competence, he was just helping in his own way.

Starlight had pointed it out when the construction ponies were working on the house—Dale would often help them, and spent time talking with them. She'd kept a close eye on him and came to the same conclusion—Dale wasn't some fancy noble that always expected things to be done for him, rather he was the complete opposite. It actually left her with very little to do most of the time.

She suspected that once the nurses were gone, she was going to be responsible for wrangling Kate, a task she didn't really look forward to. While Dale appeared to have an particular affinity for earth ponies, Kate wasn't as selective.

Diamond glanced over at the closed door leading to the guards' barracks. That was the other perk to working here. While Starlight had been the only one to take full advantage yet, she had every intention of doing the same.

Hopefully.

A few chapters back, Starlight mentioned the guard being a job perk.

Yay!

That was a long wait. Almost as long as *welp* one of my stories. :twilightoops:

Wait... I was tracking this?

Go to work to get lucky. :pinkiehappy:

I'm sorry. Real life has been an adventure since DJ quit.

I say the same thing more often than I'd care to admit...

3563333
I'm sorry to hear that.

It's quite ok. It actually gave me the chance to catch up with the story a bit, and I'm sur the end product will be well worth it.

It took me quite a long time to notice, but did you plan to have exactly 227,227 words at the end of the last chapter? :applejackconfused:

Of course I did.

ok not really

3564194 This is a thing of beauty, and I will be sad to see it go.

It was briefly at an exact 2828 comments, too.
