Blog #12: What I Learned Last Month · 1:18am Dec 8th, 2015

Dear Princess Celestia,

November has been a busy time for me, as I participated in the NaNoWriMo. Just like last time, I learned invaluable lessons:

- Finding out that you have to research a ton of stuff on November 1st when you're two paragraphs into the story, frankly, sucks.
- Not cutting off all of your social contacts means not committing enough to NaNo. Ditch all the people, write all the weekends (which by the way I didn't).
- Not winning NaNo isn't actually so bad, though. I wrote about 39500 words in November, which is a lot, no matter which way you put it.
- In fact, every Mo is a WriMo! And in the end, it's not about winning, it's about writing and being consistent.
- My project is huge. Seriously, I had planned 16 chapters (it's down to 14 right now) and the first one alone is 12000 words, so this should keep me busy for a couple of months.
- Even changelings are gay for Braeburn!
- Writing after getting only four hours of sleep once isn't so much of a problem. Writing after a week of not getting enough sleep is.
- I am slow. I only manage 400 words in an hour. Granted, this is not my first language, and I think I'm a bit faster in German, but a NaNo schedule means writing for about 5 hours every day, including breaks, and including the chance of spontaneously falling asleep.
- Seriously, getting up at six o' clock is the worst.

That is basically all I did. No Fanfic of the month this month since I didn't read anything. I've looked into some other projects over the past days, just for a change of pace, but for now I'm continuing the NaNo project. Honestly, I don't even want to think about editing this thing.

Your Faithful Writer,
Nora
