Miracle

My new horse, Miracle, is an amazing way to think how we all need time to come over our worst fears. Read on if you want to hear his story.

Miracle has his name as a symbol that it was a miracle that he was born alive. His mother had congestive heart failure at the time and she was leaving the world slowly. Then when the time came for Miracle to be born, she had a heart attack. The mare fell to the ground in her paddock and her son was in deep danger! Luckily, her owners had the vet over already and he delivered the foal. Miracle was born a healthy young colt, but his mother did not survive the next few days. There was another mare in the paddock with them who had lost her foal because of a cougar, still had milk that she was producing. So, the mare went on feeding Miracle till he was old enough to be weened. She became his new mother.

Once Miracle was 3, he was sold to my aunt Julie. Then, he was a stallion and his owners told Julie to be strict because of his behavior. Julie, I don't know why, thought being strict meant hitting him on the head, calling him names, and telling every one that he was better to be slaughtered rather than waste time trying to train a horse that is getting no where with his training. My other aunt, Jean, took him up before she sold him to slaughter.

Miracle is still really afraid that some one is going to come hurt him again. I have tried really hard to get him to understand that no one will hurt him again. He is getting to trust me to ride him but hasn't let anyone get on him other than me. I am still working with him a lot and hope one day he will trust more people than just me and my aunt. Please with me luck in training him to behave and trust people.
