My Current Favorite Show · 9:21pm Feb 7th, 2016
The thing is, that I normally don't find much of an interest in anime. But this, this is something else. Love Live! is probably one of the cheesiest, cutesy shows I have ever experienced, and considering that I'm talking to you about it here of a site for mlp fanficiton, that's saying something. As I'm sure you know, I'm a sucker for cheesy stuff, especially when great characters and a nice bit of story is involved. Great, unique, incredibly lovable characters, nice slice of life episodes with happy endings and morals, and songs contained within a good amount of episodes. Sounds familiar no? Maybe that's the reason why I love it so much.
I was introduced to Love Live! by my significant other, who plays the game on her phone constantly. I discovered quite a bit about the characters through her mentioning them while playing the game, and then watched a few episodes of the show with her. At first I was fairly hesitant about it, most likely because I didn't start from the first episode, but I was still intrigued. So I decided to catch up to where she was. After watching more and more episodes, my love for the show kept growing bigger and bigger, and I may have 'accidentally' started watching episodes without her when she was busy or not in the mood to, oops. I'm currently on the second season, and haven't even made it to the game yet (I tend not to enjoy mobile games all that much, so I may never get far on that front). Along with that, there's a movie and then they're coming out with another show focused on a new idol group as well. So yeah, you could say I'm already verging on my love for it turning into an obsession, and considering how much content I have left to explore, it most likely will happen. Along with that, I never really realized how big of a fanbase Love Live! has both in Japan, the US, and plenty of other countries as well, but I completely understand now with how good it is.
For those of you who haven't heard of it and are interested, check it out. Here's a little summary of what you're getting yourself into: Otonokizaka Academy is going to close do to a declining number of students enrolling. Wanting to find a way to stop this from happening, Honoka convinces her friends, Umi and Kotori to form a school idol group and compete in the Love Live, a competition for school idol groups, to increase their school's popularity in hopes of getting more students to enroll in the coming year. Their group, μ's, eventually gains another six girls, making them a group of nine.
