Top Six Favorite Pokemon · 2:17am Apr 19th, 2016

Weeee! Coundown for Sun and Moon!

Hello once again everyone! This is SuperKamek back for another countdown! Since Pokemon seems to be the main subject for most of the shit I tend to talk about now, why not shamelessly exploit that trend? Since Pokemon Sun and Moon are coming out in a few months, and since Corocoro were a bunch of dicks this month, I decided to fill everyone's Pokemon woes with narcissism.

Throughout the 720+ Pokemon currently released, there obviously has to be some favorites and least favorites, right? Well, I have MANY favorite Pokemon, but I wanted to challenge myself. What about another top six for each of the current generations? One Pokemon from each Generation? Yeah, that sounds fair. A few other rules I've put up for this list is that there will be no legendary Pokemon here. Yes, some legendary Pokemon are badass, but maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised by my choices that AREN'T legendaries. Or maybe you'll see them from a mile away. Also, no starter Pokemon; they're easy picks.

Either way, let's get going!

Number 6:
Nidoking

Starting off this list, we have the absolute brute of the first generation; Nidoking.

Nidoking was always the forerunner of most of my battles in Leafgreen, next to Blastoise of course. With him, I could sweep any foe that dared face me in battle thanks to his outrageously high attack stat at the time. With Earthquake, Poison Jab and whatever the hell else I could slap onto him, he was virtually unstoppable.

Of course, good things were never meant to last, and soon enough stronger Pokemon hit the scene that just made Nidoking feel... outdated. Then generation VI came around, thank the gods, and gave him a nice boost in power to compensate. How? His attack was increased by 10, his move pool was expanded upon, and the addition of Fairy types allowed his attacks to now mean something more. Of course, his speed stat is absolute shit, but who needs speed when you have brute strength? Sometimes it's just the better option.

Nidoking had finally reclaimed his crown as King of the Poison types! And I still use him to this day!

Number 5:
Roserade

I really hate Grass types, for undisclosed reasons. Thank god for this thing!

The Grass/Poison types in the first generation never truly interested me, despite my affinity for the Poison type. I mean, sure; there was Vileplume and Victreebel, but before I even heard about them I met Roserade, and by that point they couldn't even hold a candle to it. Roserade is a special kind of Pokemon for me, boasting high special attack and special defense, not to mention decent speed. With it, you could dish out powerful strikes and take a bit of punishment, especially from special fire attacks.

Roserade also powered through my most recent playthrough of Pokemon Pearl, utilizing it's wide move pool and surprisingly diverse move typing to deliver punishment. Having the ability Poison Point also helps.

And of course, Roserade's importance was increased in gen 6 with the addition of Fairy types. Woo!

Number 4:
Sharpedo

Holy fucking shit, this thing is awesome!

Seriously, if I had one word to describe how awesome Sharpedo was, it would be Sharpedo. You don't even need an intro for this fucker; it's just that cool! Jokes aside, Sharpedo's design is by-far my favorite part of this beast. However, I'm not blind to it's stats. It has an incredible combination of speed and attack, with a bit of special attack thrown in there as well. If used correctly, Sharpedo can be a great ally.

However, if used incorrectly, it can also be your downfall. Sporting absolutely dreadful defense and special defense stats, this thing can be basically classified as a glass cannon, much like Beedrill only slightly stronger. It's all made up for with it's Mega form, where it's defense/special defense stats are increased a bit. Of course, the main feature of a Mega is how much damage it can dish out, and thankfully it can dish out more damage than you'd think.

I'd go for Team Sharpedo over Team Camerupt anyday!

Number 3:
Aegislash

If there was one Kalos Pokemon I used the most, it was this thing.

And how could I not? Aegislash is OP if you know how to use it correctly. I fondly remember that Aegislash has extremely high defenses in "shield mode" and extremely high offenses in "sword mode". Being able to switch between the two at the cost of a turn is ludicrously overpowered. But that's not all! Aegislash also comes packing with Sacred Sword, a move only previously available for four certain legendary musketeer Pokemon.

A good use of Aegislash's power would be to have these four moves; Sacred Sword, King's Shield, Swords Dance, and Shadow Sneak. This way, you can store up Swords Dance power in shield mode, and then unleash it all with Shadow Sneak, which is a move that always moves first. Or if you're feeling uncertain, Sacred Sword works as well.

Only Mega Rayquaza can match this kind of power... kinda.

Number 2:
Chandelure

Surprised? Well, you should be.

I'm sad that so many people miss out on REALLY good Pokemon just because of their design. I was raised to accept anyone and anything, so I wasn't really affected by Chandelure's design. Instead, I just went with it and it quickly became my main special attacker for Pokemon White. With it's extremely high special attack stat, it'll sweep things faster than an Absol with Super Luck.

Chandelure does have a few weaknesses, however. With five type weaknesses and low speed, not to mention it's a Ghost type without levitate, you'll be in for a bad time if you're not careful. However, using Chandelure correctly will give you many victories in the future. On a side note, choosing one gen 5 Pokemon for this list was HARD. So many good Pokemon spawned from Black and White, but also a lot of really, really mediocre ones.

More on that later...

Number 1:
Fuck it, you already know it's Crobat

Crobat is my favorite Pokemon of all time.

For several reasons, actually. One, I love bats. If bats were a legal pet in Canada, I would own seven of them. I'll have to settle with cats, snakes and tarantulas, but they'll do just fine. Two, Crobat is rounded. With high attack and high speed, as well as it's well-balanced defenses, Crobat is better than any bird Pokemon you may or may not see. Three, I have a personal experience with Crobat. When I was a kid, I didn't know much about Pokemon. I had a Golbat because I was "apparently" stupid, so imagine my surprise when it suddenly evolved into Crobat and began SWEEPING everything! Four...

...IT'S A FUCKING POISON BADASS BAT!!!! IT'S MY MASCOT, IT'S MY MAIN POKEMON!!!! IT'S JUST AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...*ahem*...

But yes, Crobat is a very good Pokemon to have on your team. I highly suggest getting one.

Did you enjoy the list? Anything you agree with or disagree with? If so, let me know in the comments below! I could always use the additional feedback for future lists. Until then, this is SuperKamek saying thank you, have a great night, and don't you think it's ironic that my all-time favorite Pokemon is from a generation I've never played?

Eh... Probably not...

Roserade is pretty cool!

Oh God, my friend uses Aegislash in the most boss way in this online Pokemon battle thing me and her did. Kicked my ass with it

Aegislash is just that good, I suppose! :rainbowlaugh:

3879799 She keeps using the shield move thing that nullifes any attack

3879834
Yep! She's clearly a genius then. :rainbowkiss:

3879848 Even though I'm fairly good at strategy, I'm not so good with picking out balanced teams

3879858
A good idea is to have a Pokemon each of different types with different coverage and different main stats. For example, it's good to have an attacking Pokemon as well as a fast Pokemon, and so on and so forth. Water and Fire Pokemon are essential, and Dark and Flying Pokemon are awesome as well.

The choice is all up to you. I mean, there ARE 720+ Pokemon out there, right?

3879875 True, true.

I started recently playing Pokemon for the first time in literally 10 years, picking up Black and having a blast with it. I have grown very fond of my Serperior. I named him Jormungand :rainbowkiss:

One from each gen, let me try:
6. Arcanine
5.Lanturn
4.Guardevoir
3.Aurorus
2.Braviary
1.Lucario
