Well, I got curious and clicked on it, and it was nothing, except rain beating against the purple text. I clicked on it again, and sure enough, it linked me to Prince's music, and surely enough, it was all on YouTube now. I initially rejoiced! I wondered what that was about. Did Prince finally let his music be on YouTube? Then I typed "Prince" and discovered the real reason this was happening, the real reason why Google had a doodle and link dedicated to Prince, and why YouTube let some Prince songs be posted there:
Prince had died.
Dammit Google, you are morbid!
Anyway, I wish I had great words to say in honor of his passing, but I don't. I'm terrible with words and I probably would say the wrong thing even if I wasn't. I will say that Prince was a favorite musician of mine, to the point that he made me like music, inspire me to pick up a guitar, think more about God, and he inspired me to write very ribald black comedy with the underlining meaning that a society without morals isn't a society at all, because that was a common underlining meaning in his music. I don't really know what to say or do besides that; perhaps the best I can do is simply just keeping that up. I'll probably post links to his music tomorrow, but today, I think it's better to hold off on that, like a moment of silence.
I heard about his death before I went to Google and people around me were playing his songs.
I gotta say, the music industry loses a star so often these days. It's a shame, but it will happen.
