Injury! D: · 9:42pm Jun 12th, 2016
So a few of you might know that I work as a chef. Thing is, today I managed to fuck up my right hand pretty good... Thumb, Index and middle finger got burnt by some hot oil, and now my hand is wrapped up like a christmas present.
This of course makes typing a bit hard. I'll try to write as much as I can, but considering that I son't have a pre-written chapter right now, the next chapter MAY get delayed a bit.
Maybe I can deliver, dunno *shrug*
I hope you hand heals soon!
Well, no rush, no need to mess up your hand anymore.
Ow. Oil burns hurt like a mother. May you heal quickly and well.
ouch, oil burn are really nasty as the oil seeps into your skin. I hope things will get better for you and your writing.
Get better. I know that feel from when I was cooking for a living. Best thing I can say is to run to Walmart (or any well equipped pharmacy) and get some stuff called 2nd Skin. Clean off the burn, slap some of that on it, then cover with a bandage. Works wonders on burns.
Still better than being a meat cutter though. Those guys get hurt crazy bad doing their job. I can deal with the occasional oil splash or slit knuckle.
Don't worry, just take care of yourself and let that hand heal quietly.
Oh yeah. I know what oil's like.
I may not be a qualified chef or even cook, but I live in my kitchen when I'm not on here, and one night I was making crumbed tuna bites and one of them must have held onto a bit of water or something because it burst open and I got oil all over my left hand and some went at my eye, thankfully only getting my eyelid.
I'm glad I'm right-handed.
take your time to heal, we understand that you can't write injured, so please relax and we will wait.
or at least I will .
What type of chef are you? I don't mean specialty distinctions like sushimi or confectionery ( although I wouldn't mind knowing how to define the different types or classifications if you have the patience to throw that in as well) I mean, what is your level of cooking skill?
For instance, my cooking skill for breakfasts is pretty high (in my opinion). If I make toast, I will prepare it with three different types of cinnamon and butter, or I'll make it with cheese, or cranberry jam. While I'm not particularly finicky when it comes to decoration or appearance, in addition to the standard eggs and bacon I will add parsley, kiwi, avacado, or salsa (if not all three then two or one) as long as they're available, the only difference between cake and biscuits (in my opinion)is whether or not you add eggs to the two cups of flour and the standard stick of butter. Can't say I put the same amount of effort into other meals except for sandwich's ... the fewer ingredients the better in my opinion, like ice cream made from whipped topping and milk. Although I know how to make chilli from scratch, sometimes a can of chilli, chips, cheese and sour cream make for a more filling dinner than pizza.
4021380 My level of skill is somewhere between 14-15 Gault-Milleau points ^^

quick google search...
Gault-Milleau is a gastronomy magazine about french cuisine. . . I always wondered if the french invented pizza. Would definitely explain the anchovies.
Will Alex inherit your cooking skill?
