    A personal social museum

Hey, everyone. Sorry for being so quiet lately. I've been a little tired in general, and I've wanted to take a break from fanfiction for a while, not a big break, mind you, just for a few weeks, and I've sort of been doing that, but I've also checked in most days to check comments, and nagging myself that I should write, so... it's like the worst of both worlds, not doing anything, but also not

    So very tired

One of the reasons I don't write more news like this than I do is that the latest blog post is going to be on my profile's front page and the latest news about my writing for quite a while, but I still felt like I should write something. Because... well, there seems to be some people who genuinely want to read what I write, weird as that feels to say out loud. I mean, there are a few

Sunset Shimmer at Hogwarts story mission statement

I am not feeling very eloquent today, or least not this moment, but I've decided to nonetheless try and give an update on what's going on, and why I'm writing an crossover where Sunset Shimmer ends up at Hogwarts and not something else.

So why this story and not other stuff? What gives?

    physical recovery period

okay, so, i have not been in an accident or something like, it was relatively minor operation, and it has been in the works for a while, but i got a summons on a very short notice.

so right now i am typing and using the mouse with my left hand, and i am not super enthusiastic about stuff since my right wrist hurts quite a bit, so i will be brief.

    Just a general update

You know how there's this sentiment that a lot of people don't go to the hospital even when they should?

I'm not entirely convinced about that's a valid feedback to give in general. I mean, the medical community have enough on their plate, even without pandemics, without everyone going to see a medical professional every time they have the flu, or a stomach bug, or something.

Chapter 13 is almost here · 10:38pm Jul 31st, 2016

So chapter 13 is coming up, eh? It's in a sensitive stage right now... so let's double down on the triskaidekaphobia, with a 13th blog post :rainbowdetermined2:

As always, cred to the usual parties, as well as a mystery-proofreader, who's insight helped me realize something.

That something is that the story MLAABQ currently looks like it's finished. The main goal that was set up is now complete. Gabe has come out of her shell, the final parts of her emotional mending is now pretty much secure, and she's a healthier and almost restored individual, both mentally and bodily. Where can we go from here?

Well, I know where we can go from here. We can go to something more resembling my original goal when I came up with this story in my head back when the mighty dinosaurs walked the earth, 2014.

You see, I originally just thought up a story about a human in Equestria. What would make this story awesome? Uuh, well. Let's see, what do I like? Cyborgs! Cyborgs are kewl! *Gasp!* Cyborg ponies! Magical cyborg ponies!

So... a human, who turns into a pony... and turns herself into a cyborg. Alright, why? Because... she's gravely disabled. She'd want to be a cyborg. Also, she doesn't really miss Earth. Yeah, let's go with that. Wait... it sounds difficult to write a disabled protagonist. How would being disabled affect your life? Also, why wouldn't she miss Earth. That has to mean that she doesn't have any loved ones. Man, that's gotta be a real challenge as well. Is there a better idea for a character that turns into a magical cyber-pony? Not really, but no one ever said that writing isn't challenging.

Then I started writing a character who was a lonely and disabled young woman. Boring. She gotta have a personality as well. And hey, it turns out that the whole disability and orphan-angles was pretty rewarding to write. Let's try and flesh that out instead of just rushing towards the good parts with the magical cyber-action.

But now, with chapter 12, it's kinda finished. 'Oh, good', I feel like I should say. 'Now we can get to the good parts'.

Only, people really liked seeing Gabe struggling, adjusting, overcoming, and opening up. And I liked writing it. Maybe those were the 'good parts'?

Is there anything left to say?

You know, I don't really know. But I do know that there's another chapter pretty much finished, and waiting in the wings.

There's more to the story of Gabrielle Eleanor Desrochers. Perhaps it won't be as emotionally gripping as her re-acceptance of close relationships, or the attempts at metaphors with restoring bodies as well as psyches, but then again, perhaps it will. I guess we'll just have to see.

To better prepare my readers for what they're getting into, the current parts available of My Life As A Bipedal Quadruped will be referred to as 'part 1'. I think it feels like a story-arc, and there might as well be an indicator that we're entering a new era, or something, in the future, one that might actually live up to the Slice-of-Life-tag.

So, if MLAABQ was interesting beyond disabilities and stories of healing old scars, stay tuned for chapter 13 of My Life As A Bipedal Quadruped: *title pending*

I hope you'll enjoy it

Think of it this way: the previous twelve chapters sucked me in and made me like Gabrielle (and the rest of the cast) as a person, so now I'm naturally more interested in seeing what else she does with her life.

"There is no real ending. It's just the place where you stop the story." - Frank Herbert

There are so many things that you can still write about.
Her difficulties in everyday situations without the knowledge of customs of Equestria or interactions with foals when she has the mentality of an adult. For me personally, the latter point is particularly interesting. Think about how much such a person can be helpful for young people in obtaining answers to difficult questions.
In short, I hope you don't plan to complete this story too quickly :trollestia: There's too little good stories of this type to see how it ends without sadness

Oh goody, and I just finished reading all previous chapters!

Gabe still has to go to school and survive being a kid again.

By the way, does anyone know a good site for uploading a single image? I was thinking of showing what Gabe looks like with General Zoi's pony-creator. I designed her back for chapter 1, but no one expressed interest in knowing what she looked like until recently, so I haven't bothered showing.

4125073 Oh, good. I think this is exactly what's gonna happen right now. I plan on making three 'arcs'. I guess the first one turned out to kinda warrant a Drama-tag. The next arc, which we'll hopefully be seeing very soon, I just wanna see a green light from all my proofreaders, is probably gonna be solely Slice Of Life, and the third one I'm gonna try and make into an adventure, without alienating it from the rest of the story.

4125087 Let's hope you'll enjoy the upcoming parts even though they might not be all that emotional.

Then again, it's comedy-centered, and joy is an emotion. So it might all work out

4125138 Verily.

4125721 Oh, if this story ever ends, I'm dead-set on it being on an upbeat note

4125776 Tell your friends

4125779 With friends, bullies, imbeciles, and dreamy colts :twilightsheepish:

4126016 Dreamy colts indeed.

I wonder if it's a bad idea to try and write young love as someone completely oblivious on the subject :twilightsheepish:

If there's really a hard arc break, I'd suggest just marking the story Complete and starting a sequel.

Otherwise: continue with what you're doing right!

4127028

Otherwise: continue with what you're doing right!

Easier said than done when you're having trouble figuring out what that is :twilightsheepish:

But yeah, I think the two parts are connected enough that they can be the same story. That's also good because if I ever manage to con anyone into making cover-art for me, I just need one piece :scootangel:
