Hello all.
I know everyone's been bugging me and expecting a chapter of The Whittler, and I apologize it hasn't happened sooner. Been having a lot of things going on, but I assure you it is being worked on. But that's not what this is about.
Something I told myself years ago, after the great MLD explosion, was I would not do commissions because I didn't feel right about accepting money for writing stories around a trade marked franchise. I do this for fun, and enjoy it even though I don't write fast like others do. However, due to recent events, and a couple of friends pushing, I've begun to take doing commissions as a serious thought. I've been looking around at how others run and do them, and how some are successful while others flop. Price ranges vary depending on how popular and how fast they can spit out words.
So after much thought and consideration, I've settled on possibly going at it like this:
1.5 cents a word, using Chrome/Open Office word count (not fimfic, because it's goofy), at a 1000 word minimum due to obviously Fimfic's rules, and probably a maximum (because this is fresh for me) of 5k words. If multiple chapters, it can be broken up however the commissioner wishes, or it will remain a one shot. I intend to stick to E or Teen rated, (M will be a possibility later on, but on my alt), and I will be open to OC's (however depending on how descriptive I need to be, or how much time I need to invest in researching the OC, I might charge a small fee for the extra time), and I will do all the tags other than ones affiliated with M fics.
I want to give this a try out soon, and see how well it works out. How I figured it, if I end up needing the editing help of someone, the half cent would cover them as part of my commission. So technically I get 1 cent, and they get a half cent, but that also means I need to find an editor up for the joint effort (which I have a few in mind). But for now to start off, I'm gonna try it on my own and see what happens and how it goes.
And of course, the story would not be posted until the commissioner got first eyes on it to approve or ask me to change something here and there. Then once it is finalized, commissioner pays and then I post it.
So, thoughts? I'd like to hear some people's opinions and ideas. Do many of you, my followers, want to commission me? Do you even care? Or am I going to end up wasting my time and getting more frustrated over this than it would be worth?
I'll be honest I haven't read many of your stories yet (though I've been meaning to, I swear!)
What kind of stories would you say you specialize in?

4380370 Honestly, I specialize in more serious toned fics. I'm not all that great at comedy as a entirety for a fic, but people say I can squeeze in some good things from time to time. I prefer canon characters as much as possible, but I also can do multiple fanon background character personalities if people so wish.
People would say I specialize in "sad" fics, but I don't believe in that myself to be honest, but I will give it a try if someone asks of it.
This is all going to be new for me, putting me out of my comfort zone, so like I said other than M stories I'm going to be open to pretty much everything.

Hm, let me run an idea by you and let me know if you think you can work with it:
I always wished that they explored the idea of the three tribes being the stewards of nature and the seasons more than they did.
You remember how cool Winter Wrap-up and the Running of the Leaves were as concepts? It had the air of the religious myths told to explain where the seasons come from, why it snows in winter, why leaves fall in fall and why flowers bloom in spring!
I'd like to read a story expanding on how the earth ponies, Pegasus and unicorn's work together to make all the other seasons happen!
Note: I know ponyvile has a "no magic" policy for winter wrap-up but I think it'd be cool if the unicorn's had a unique thing to do to help the other seasons, like maybe they're the ones who cast spells to make animals sleepy so they hibernate? Something like that that ordinary non-overpowered unicorn's can help with, so that it's still frowned upon for twilght to just instantly change everything with her magic!

4380815 It's more so the fact that there are people out there who have an idea of a story they want (usually involving their own OC) but either lack the ability, patience, or skill to write it themselves, so they seek out others who can. This isn't intended to replace or take over my normal writing by any means, just that I'm on the table for some people who want to hire someone to write a story for them.
