Now that the semester is nearly over for me, I have a set plan for stories over summer.
You know how a lot of my stories feature the concept of Scootaloo's father as a stoic, a widower and a Przewalski's horse (because frankly, considering that Equestria has donkeys and zebras, and even arabian horses, they must have Przewalski's horses, which are frankly not even a breed, but a sub-species, one with a rusty coat color that could easily pass for some Equestrian coat colors), but from there, there is variation, like different names, different jobs, things like that, and yet always ?
I'm going to write a series of experimental fictions over the summer that play with different concepts for this character, most of them not necessarily sharing the same reality. Common threads would be that his name is Delger, and a relationship with Rainbow Dash would be frequently implied or depicted, since I've been teasing this since forever and have been proposing shipfic concepts for a long time, the notions increasingly well-received, probably because I've improved as a writer, and this is Scootaloo's father we're talking about. Even though it's OC X Canon, OC X Canon can work if the OC has a backstory, has a personality, suits the world he lives in, and the canon character he is with. Plus, this isn't just any OC: This OC is family to Scootaloo, justifying the relationship with Rainbow and adding some backstory to how Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo relate. I think that right there is why the concept is sometimes very well-received.
So I think it's time to realize these ideas and start publishing them when the semester is over.
