    Blogging? What's that?

The first blog I'm ever writing, and it's on Fimfic. Gold star to you, Fimfic.

I suppose this blog will be a get to know Bubble Flurry type of thing. The itinerary will include: A bit about me, how I got into MLP, my favorite ponies and why, and lastly a bit about my writing style/methods/etc.

Introducing Bubble Flurry
I am a college senior majoring in Exercise Science, which pretty much means I've spent a copious amount of money and time to be able to say "What are your fitness goals?" and prescribe a workout plan accordingly. Who would have thought there was a degree for that?

I spend a lot of time helping instruct skating and hockey classes. I used to think I was going to be the nice coach until I realized the little monsters will walk all over you given the chance. Now, I have experienced "putting the fear of God" into some naughty children and I don't really want to go back. I will be Nightmare Bubble Flurry with my whistle and stop watch. Try me, son.

Other than that I'm pretty boring. I listen to classical music when I cook. I prefer walking to driving. I always enjoy a good thunder storm. And you'd be hard pressed to find me without a mug of hot tea at my desk when I'm writing.

Pony Obsession: Origins
I actually put on the first episode of MLP the night before my high school graduation, back in 2012. I couldn't sleep. I enjoyed it to an extent, but the spark didn't catch. Since then, I was exposed to bits and pieces of the fandom over time, gradually inching toward giving it a try. I happened upon the song Apples to the Core and fell in love with it, so I started watching it again from season 1. That was until my boyfriend at the time made fun of me enough for it that the interest died off again. Finally, within the past few months, I made a very good friend who happened to be a brony. With a bit of encouragement on his end, I started it up from the beginning again. Now, I have caught up with the series completely and can fully appreciate it for what it is.

Favorite? Can't it be Favorites?
Octavia: She's been a favorite of mine since I saw her in the first episode with her cello. Strings have always been my favorite instruments to listen to, so she climbed to the top of my favorites list very quickly.

Princess Luna: Watching her in the Nightmare Night and Tantabus episodes really made me feel for her because I see a lot of similarities between her struggles in those episodes and struggles I often deal with. It's not a spot on comparison, but it was enough to make me love her. Also her colors, wonderful, I love blues.

Starlight Glimmer: This point could be used on various reformed villains, but I saw it more keenly with Starlight. Her character development from the villain, to struggling to learn new ways, to finally "graduating" from Twilight's lessons hit home. She was a pretty good representation of old habits dying hard, which is often true to real life.

A Glimpse into the Madness
I've always enjoyed seeing the gears turning and understanding the interworkings of things, so I try to convey that in writing. I like my readers to see the strings and wait in anticipation for what can possibly happen next.

Somehow I've slipped into writing Sad/Dramatic works even when I don't intend for them to go that direction. Torment and Lament was originally intended to be a lighthearted sequel to Misgive and Regret where Octavia swoops in and saves Vinyl, maybe she wouldn't have completely forgiven her, but the bridge between the two could be rebuilt with time. But, when I was writing it, my fingers danced to a different tune. That is part of the joy of writing. It is like setting out on an adventure and just going down the paths you like the most.

As for my endings, I am aware I have a tendency to leave them unresolved even when the fic is complete. I treat it like a scale in music. You climb from the root note up all the way to the sixth note, but I tend to leave off that resolution where you return to the root note. I enjoy leaving a bit of tension there so the reader can imagine for themselves what might happen next. Fun fact: Misgive and Regret was never meant to have a sequel, but when asked for a sequel in the comments I realized I could write something more and set out to do it.

And that's that. Sorry for the long post. Until next time!
