Visiden Whines It: Daring Done · 7:29am Sep 10th, 2017
This is a surprisingly somber tale of good characters with good intentions having to deal with the bad consequences of their actions and pfffhahaha, no, it's all Dr. Caballeron's fault! Daring Do is as pure as the driven snow and it's only because of his meddling that anypony would have a less than sterling view of the heroine. All it takes to restore her reputation is for him to stupidly confess his crime in front of everypony, and all is well.
I do like how Daring did make amends for any unintentional destruction she caused, so it's really not a broken message.
Let's look at that Rainbow kidnapping scene though. First, the fact that they kidnapped her while her friends were just standing a few feet away. Mind you, they had the time and leisure to bind her with ropes and blindfold her. It wasn't just a quick snatching. Apparently, Rainbow went willingly and even assisted them in tying her up, or the highly alert adventurer, Daring Do, and Pinkie Pie, failed to notice the struggle just a few feet away. These were also a bunch of earth ponies who didn't appear to have any sort of ranged attacks like guns, bows, or even a lasso. All Rainbow had to do was fly off, but nope. Quick jumpcut and she's bound and blindfolded. Way to go, Rainbow.
I thought the Somnambula or whatever legend was stupid. Oh, how did you make it across the bridge while blindfolded? You just hoped to make it across? Amazing. Hoping to accomplish something allows you to accomplish it. Reminded me of that scene on one of the Saw movies where a blindfolded man with a noose around his neck had to cross some beams. Too bad he didn't hope hard enough, amirite?
An ok episode. I'm never fond of Daring Do episodes.
Dr. Cabelleron's been practicing capturing and tying up pegasi on Daring Do for decades. He's got it down to a science by this point.

He's been taking lessons from Akuma. He approaches you, the screen goes black, then presto, you're captured.
That surprises me. I thought it was the worst one of the season so far, and for basically all the same reasons you listed in this blog. The only positive thing you said about it was that it didn't completely break its message, but that's a really low bar to clear, and I've never known you to have low standards.

It's an OK episode for me because I don't really give a shit about Rainbow Dash. If it was a fucked up episode with Rarity, Applejack or Spike, you bet I'll get the down the whine cellar. So yeah, low standards.
4664000 The worsted of FIM is better than the best outing of some shows.

That's true in a technical sense, but it's also damning with faint praise. The worst episodes of FiM are still really bad. Just because others have done worse, that doesn't mean the show should get a pass.

Well I think the episode was OK, just OK, not really bad but far from the best. A solid C-

Everyone's welcome to their opinions. I have mine as well.
