    ...

I should have written this a long time ago. It's been embarrassing. I've been embarrassed. I've also felt like, hey, I'm washed-up and haven't written anything in ages, so why should folks care?

But I might as well be honest, because if not now, when?

    I lost my job.

I woke up and remembered our song

Well, it was never really our song
It was a song I heard once, from you, and we talked about it
And I'm not sure if you even remember that conversation now, or if you listen to the song
It's not like the music you play now at all

And maybe you moved on from that, too
    Wouldn't be the first time

    But I shouldn't begrudge you
    I keep telling myself that
    You're happier now, more successful

    More (unfinished) content

It's been a while. I could talk about things being busy, but things are always busy. I'm not going anywhere, barring very unfortunate circumstances, and I appreciate everyone who's still been following along with this account.

Well, a singular one, but still.

I was gonna link fanart directly, but i figure you guys don't want to see that first thing in your feeds. Even so, you've been warned.

Fucking Rick and Morty. This, and variations on this, have been flooding a couple of my chat groups, via fanart and memes and gif-sound mashups and everything else under the goddamned sun. I'm not going to go so far as to call this memetic, but this has been some trendy-ass shitposting all over my internet feeds, and I feel like it's going to be a couple of days before the output finally peters out. not that i'm complaining about her existence, though

I want to say "Harmon and Roiland knew exactly what they were doing," but I can never tell. I mean, that's the thing about content creators: even if they're trying to invoke a reaction, were they expecting the severity of the reaction they inspire when they do something memorable and unexpected? To use a MLP example: I'm absolutely positive that M.A. Larson knew what sort of public response "Fame and Misfortune" would get, but did he expect all the little idiosyncrasies in the reactions? The way people would take some of the elements of that episode at face value, but have a much more dramatic reaction (positive or negative) to other parts of the episode?

I can never decide whether writers that appear to be geniuses are:
A. Fairly clever and insightful, but quite reasonably can't predict everything, or
B. Actually complete geniuses who know exactly what they're doing at every turn.

It's not helped by the fact that this keeps changing from writer(s) to writer(s) and arrrrrrrgh

Point is that now I can't listen to any song featuring (some variation of) the phrase "put it down on me" without thinking of her. You know how many songs that is? A lot of songs. Even my sacred Maroon 5 is no longer, uh, sacred.

Again, I'd complain even more if the perverse part of me didn't like this rather a lot.

In any case, disregard my predilections, go catch up on R&M if you haven't already, make sure to get some tendies with Szechuan sauce this saturday, feel free to post in the comments below (especially if you can think of more examples of "clever or genius" writing like the aforementioned example,) etc. Oh, and more writing's going to be going up either today or tomorrow, depending on whether you guys want to tackle moar reading or not.

Cheers,

-Petrichord.

(Oh, and here's a QSFW bit of fanart, if you wanted an example. Again, you've been warned.)

Tl;DR the Season 3 finale of Rick and Morty dropped a few days ago, and less than a day afterwards people started spamming my various Discord groups with the .gif that i posted above. Eventually I ended up watching the episode, and that whole bit with the .gif above is a background event that happens while, and I apologize if this sounds bizarre out of context, Rick is casually resolving the Israel/Palestine conflict while getting high at a Mos Eisley-esque cantina, solely to spite the president of the United States.

It's that kind of show.

Hawt.
