Let me tell you a story (1/?) · 4:15am Apr 18th, 2018
I'm feeling very talkative right now and, for the moment at least, don't have anypony to talk to. I got to thinking: my "hey, I'm back" post got a positive response, and staying engaged with the community is definitely going to keep me writing.
So, as often as I can manage, I'm going to blog here
- about why the hiatus happened,
- about Wild Sky Yonder,
- progress reports on the latest chapter
- etc.
(Also, I'm gonna go ahead and treat the comments on my blog as an "ask me anything," so feel free to... well, you know.)
this... is already starting to feel WAY self-indulgent so... let's start with the most interesting things I have to say:
How much more WSY is written, right now?
My average chapter length is ~5000 words
I have, across 3 or 4 documents, ~10,000 words written.
So what's the holdup? Where's chapter 11?
A LOT of those 10,000 words belong in chapter 12 or 13 or 14
So how many chapters are there?
If my current outline holds, chapter 16 will be the epilogue. If that turns out not to be true, it'll be because the story gets longer, not shorter
Am I still going to maintain the up-down-up-down chapter naming convention?
I uhhhhhhhhh
that felt a lot more clever 6 years ago than it does today. On the other hoof, how weird would it be to do it for ten chapters and then just stop?
Provisionally, the remaining chapter titles are:
11: Up On the Ice
12: Sundown
13: Uprising
14: Hunker Down
15: Up and Over
16: Hard as Nails, Soft as Down
(Chapter titles are subject to change without notice. Terms and conditions may apply.)
I still think the up-down chapter names are quite clever.
Oh my goodness. This was the first story on this site I really fell in love with. I still bring it up in conversation. I’ve been calling it one of the three greatest tragedies of forever-unfinished worldbuilding on fimfiction.
And now you show up and tell me it wasn’t really abandoned, and will be getting a conclusion. Pardon me while the last five years declare war on my heart. Welcome back, Mysecsha. You have been missed.
Holy shit it's been 5 years... I remember reading this story so long ago, re-read it even. There will always be a place in my heart for updates to this story.
sorry I don't have anything else to add, just the glimpse of this story being finished is enough to make me comment.
It's good to see you again!
