Or 'What the heck was this episode?'
Discord has one long, drawn-out temper tantrum because he didn't get to be principal while Twilight is gone, terrorises the entire school, endangers students, and almost gets rewarded for it...
...if not for the reveal that Twilight was tricked into leaving, by Discord, who doesn't show even an ounce of regret for anything he did to anyone. And everyone lets it slide, because hey, it's Discord, no sense getting upset when he's utterly horrible to everyone around him.
That's not okay.
This may be a controversial opinion, but... I liked that episode. The "moral" was of course absolutely terrible... it's just that I actually like Discord better as a villain. He's simply a hundred times more entertaining when he's an unapologetic cunt.

The episode itself is fine, true. Except for the ending. I do like Discord being a dick, but then it should be balanced by some kind of comeuppance. Even if it's just him feeling a little bad.
I guess him not having been invited to the school before was supposed to be justification enough for all the crap be put everyone through. That really didn't work for me, though.
Yeah, we see that a lot in MLP. Think about it: Starlight enslave/brainwashed an entire town, took away their cutie marks, then when she was stopped she tried going back in time and created multiple times lines each worse than the last. When she was stopped what did they do? Did they lock her up like they did Cozy? Make her work off her crimes? No. She got to become Princess Twilight's personal student (which is seen like an honor), gets to live in a castle without rent, and is even forgiven when she takes away the mane 6's free will.

Yup. Though even there is at least some form of regret on Starlight's part; whether that's enough or not is debatable, but at least it's there. Discord was just cheerfully messing up everyone's lives and didn't care at all.
