Month of Macabre Reading: "Cant" by Rambling Writer

I ran across this one sometime in September whilst filtering through Fimfic's handy new search tool for fics in the vein I usually look for around this time of year. I can definitely say I wasn't disappointed by Rambling Writer's awesome use of repetition and subtle hinting to suggest that, despite the appearance of normalcy, something is slowly going very wrong. I hope that my work is at least a little up to the task of bringing that text to life. I found it fascinating how, like in our everyday lives, the need to be precise, to have order, to have structure, is itself characterised by a lack of control or precision in one's thinking, and paradoxically begins to control you rather than the other way around.
